"Alright Mr Jackson, I'm ready for my close-up." A different take on 'a bird's eye view,' and a more typical portrait shot, of the Common Whitethroat. Taken on different days in early May but in the same area at Brandon Marsh near Coventry, these pics may feature the same individual, who was kind enough to give me a couple of brief photo opportunities.

A 'head and shoulders' shot of a singing Whitethroat. The body is brown, the head greyish-brown, and the throat, surprise, surprise, is white. The eye is a reddish-brown in colour with a small black pupil.

A branching twig with leaves and clusters of blossom, on which is perched a Whitethroat, facing to the left. The head, upperparts and wings are brown, the undersides whitish, and yes, the throat is white.

Diese #Dorngrasmücke machte mit lautem Gesang auf sich aufmerksam. Der Sonnenuntergang schien ihr direkt ins Auge.

An old stone viaduct peeking out among masses of trees and bushes. Only one main arch can be seen, with a second arch hidden behind a sprawling green tree on the right. At the left dark trees rise up, also covering the viaduct. Below it is a grassy meadow area. A tarmac path runs under the viaduct over to the right.

A northern marsh orchid. It is a mass of purple/pink big flowers on top of a thick green stem. The flowers are huge, with different shades and details of purple and white.

It has a light brownish back and wings, a light grey tummy, light greyish brown back of the head, black stripes on the top of its head, and a white fluffy and slightly black in places furry ruff under its beak and chin area.

It has a very curious expression on its face, and is extremely fluffy looking. It has a bright yellow beak, and a lot of variation in colour can be seen in its feathers and plumage.

It is a mostly mottled brown colour with a narrow white band around it's neck and a orange tinge to it's breast. It's head is slightly tilted to the right and it looks quizzically towards the camera

In diesem Rapsfeld lebt ein Schwarzkehlchen-Pärchen. Vorhin glaubte ich, einen davon erwischt zu haben. Auf dem Foto war dann aber doch die Dorngrasmücke, die in einem Busch am Feldweg wohnt.
