“When future and past collide: Amelia (1966), the typographic embodiment of the Space Age and sixties futurism, paired with Crayonette (1889), the undulating fantasy cursive from late romanticism, connected by little more than their otherness, i.e. pronounced stroke contrast, with thicker parts in unusual places.” —@fhardwig on the fonts used for the cover of The Seven Gates of Transcendental Consciousness: fontsinuse.com/uses/27857/wilb

RIP Master #WilburnBurchette 1939–2023: numerogroup.com/blogs/stories/

Album cover of Wilburn Burchette’s 1972 album of psychedelic rock, with art by Caren Caraway, showing a flaming celestial body in orange, red, and violet, with a single large eye. The typography is added in white: the artist’s name in all-caps Amelia at the top left, and the title “Opens the Seven Gates of Transcendental Consciousness” in three lines of Crayonette at the bottom.

Very sad music news out of San Diego that #WilburnBurchette and his brother Kenneth have sadly been found passed on in their shared home. Burchette's early 70s music laid a lot of conceptual groundwork for #NewAgeMusic as such but was very much its own thing, and is worth the seeking out. #music masterwilburnburchette.bandcam
