Wagtail surveys his domain

I love these little guys. They're the size of an apricot with an attitude the size of Sydney Harbour.

A small black and white bird sits on a post looking across the shot. It has a distinct white mark above its eye which makes it look like it is permanently cranky

Winter means not mowing the lawn so often. My feathered friend was back to snack on the insects the mower disturbed. Such a cheeky cutie. #WillyWagtail

A Brown Thornbill checks out a spiderweb for any snacks. It is seen here from below, showing its striated neck and chest, and light grey under-tail.A Willy Wagtail in the sun above the water. It was diving down to collect bugs that were skimming the surface. The tiny, but quite loud Striated Pardalote on some twigs.
This very small bird has brown wings, yellowy buff chest belly, back head with orange and white patches above the eye.
They nest in hollows on dirt embankments. They call is a loud, and difficult to locate two tone chip-chip.A medium sized songbird, the Olive-backed Oriole is, as its name suggests, olive backed, but also olive headed, and has a red eye and red beak, and white striated chest and belly.

The track we took had a hilly section that rose above the lake and this is where we found quite a large number of #ScarletHoneyeater s. Pictured here are two shots of the same female.

Back down near the lake I spied a #WillyWagtail incongruously on a Lilly pad, but it took off to a nearby branch before I could get the camera trained on it, so this shot is of it on the branch.

A Willy Wagtail perched on a branch above the lake. It is calling.

This small bird (about the size of a robin), is mostly black or dark brown above, with a white belly. It has a white brow that makes it look angry.A female Scarlet Honeyeater inspects a spiderweb at the tip of a branch, possibly for grubs. Honeyeaters often eat insects as well as nectar. The same female Scarlet Honeyeater as the other shot, hanging downwards from a branch ready for takeoff.

She is a small brown bird with lighter belly and a rosy chin. She had a sharp, curved beak that is a glossy black. An overhead map view of our trek this morning. Approx 4.6km round the northern part of the Enoggera Reservoir. Yellow indicators on the map are where I took photos.

A Willy Wagtail takes a dislike to a Laughing Kookaburra and proceeds to swoop it mercilessly.
