In the late #1990s, *if* a game appeared trying something new, it a rare occurrence worth celebrating. It was an awful time of formulaic conformism. Turning this around, there was no guarantee that all experimental games were successful. At least, however, it *does* make a look at #DieByTheSword worthwhile.

Okay so both #MySummerCar and #thelongdrive are on a specific range of #Unity #unity3d #unityengine builds that have a bug where some steering wheels will only half work - Quite literally, it thinks the entire range of rotation from -1.0 to 1.0 is from Top Dead Center through to the far right turn.
God I hate that. Two games I love, and neither works with my steering wheel. :(

jstest-gtk does show the full range of motion, as well as other games working just fine with it, which rules out hardware, fwiw.

But then #xEdit crashed my whole goddamned system—with not so much as a blue screen of death, that little piggy just kept eating memory even when that memory belonged to the OS and was supposed to be protected…

May I present to you #Scarfield — a comprehensive difficulty overhaul for #Starfield that uses #ImprovedCombatAI, eliminates the obnoxious bullet-sponges, and most amusingly gets MORE difficult as you dial the difficulty game settings down from (the default) Very Hard such that Easy and Very Easy may not even be humanly achievable. The whole package is a non-stop #KobayashiMaru challenge. 🥰
Fair warning: this overhaul touches nearly everything, and has very specific installation, update, and uninstallation instructions. Getting naked between updates or prior to mid-game installation is non-optional. Getting naked for new players is completely optional but recommended. No I am not kidding. See the sticky post for an explanation of stat changes on equipped apparel borking save files. And consider body mesh, morph, and texture replacers to remove the unsightly and offensive Bethesda nevernude body-shaming. To uninstall, delete the mod and create a new character. No, it cannot be removed from existing saves.
And most importantly, it features #Terrormorphs on the #RedMile like there always should have been! FINALLY!
(Y’know. “Finally!” for me. As in “I wish I’d been using this mod the whole damn time” because it’s been around since September 2023 and I just didn’t know any better.)

I bit the bullet and actually bought the Steam edition of #Starfield on Friday to support my own mod development, and I’m never looking back. BetterConsole? Trainwreck?? Real-Time Form Patcher and SFSE?! Are you kidding me?!? Not to mention full integration with the CK. I can now literally livehack the whole Settled Systems. The multiverse is mine to command!
By comparison, I kept hitting wall after wall of undiagnosable bugs and crashes with the GamePass edition, no matter how deep I dug through the WinDbg crash dumps. The way they partially stripped the binary of the GamePass edition is super weird and really doesn’t help.
Naturally, I also started a whole new game with a whole new character, for a clean playthrough to use as a sandbox—and for some reason I thought “meh it’ll be fiiiiiinnnneeee on total Extreme mode with maxed-out XP boosters”.
… Holy hell … holy goddamned hell …

In other news I (mostly) fixed my #Starfield #LoadOrder
I’m still having a couple bizarre texture issues. Like parts of a spacesuit not rendering. Some ships still only rendering as blocks while most are fine. Oh and my Premium Edition content has disappeared again
But I’m getting there
