Over €90m in counterfeit food and drink seized in the EU last year.
Counterfeit products are often associated with luxury goods but food products are the second most seized category of products at the EU's external borders.
EU's Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) said that wines and spirits face one of the highest counterfeiting rates compared to other products, with annual losses in sales of €2.28 billion.

Next after Assisi is a visit to Montioni, a producer of Montefalco wines in Umbria, Italy on 20 Oct 2024. Had a lovely wine tasting session together with lunch. Also notice a typewriter being used as part of a display of wines, although I couldn't find out more information on the typewriter.
