2. #Windows hat keinen mitgelieferten etablierten zentralen Updatemechanismus.
Windows Update gilt nur für Microsoft Produkte und Treiber.
Der Microsoft Store bietet bei weitem nicht alle sinnvolle verbreitete Software an.
#WinGet kennt kein Mensch.
Also bringen alle Programme ein Updatemodul mit. Entweder wird beim Programmstart nach dem Update mittels eines Updatemoduls gesucht (Hallo, Notepad++!) oder ein Service läuft permanent im Hintergrund (Hallo, Adobe!).

Okay also ich bin auf der originalen deutschen #Microsoft Doku für #winget. Und die Kommandozeilen Parameter sind einfach mal mit übersetzt.
Mal probieren ... ne den Befehl "Merkmale" gibt es tatsächlich nicht.
Besonders auffällig find ich aber, dass der Befehl #upgrade zweimal auftaucht ... einmal als der richtige upgrade Befehl aber einmal als uninstall?!

Doch der #Paketmanager WinGet wird zum Desaster:
Der Konzern schaltet die Download-Server ab, ohne ein Update nachzureichen - die Software ist Monatelang kaputt, ohne dass sich Microsoft darum kümmert. Doch hinter #WinGet steckt ein noch weitaus größerer Skandal: Der Paketmanager stammt gar nicht wirklich von Microsoft. Das Unternehmen hat den Entwickler der quelloffenen AppGet-Software belogen und manipuliert, damit das Unternehmen diese kopieren kann.
Der Entwickler wird Fallengelassen, die Kopie unter dem Name WinGet veröffentlicht. Die #OpenSource Community ist stinksauer.
Doch Microsoft kümmert sich wenig darum. AppGet wurde ausgenutzt und ist zerstört. Ihre angebliche Liebe zu Open Source ist reine Taktik. Hinter verschlossenen Türen wird die #OSS-Gemeinschaft mit Füßen getreten, so lange der Tech-Gigant auch nur minimal davon profitiert:

I'm mostly a UI-first dev—only touch the console when absolutely necessary. But for installing and updating apps on #Windows11, I've fully switched to #winget. CLI wins here: faster, cleaner, and way more convenient than manual installs.

If, for reasons I need not understand, you have decided to stick with #Microsoft & #Windows, It would be negligence to not mention UniGetUi the universal package manager.
Hassle free, multiple repos/backends keeps things tidy, finds & installs new software, as well as notifying you as soon as updates are available.
I'm about to end this ReWindowing experiment. So maybe don't follow me for more Wincentric advice except how to escape.
