I really enjoy visiting small towns and interesting places there. This time, we visited the Kretinga Museum, which has an impressive winter garden. This garden was recreated based on Count Tiškevičius winter garden, which existed at the beginning of the 20th century.

When I step outside the next morning, there's a sense of emptiness in the yard, a notable absence of green and gold. Like all things mortal, we note a summer garden's passing with an awareness of our own finitude.

Stukje tuin met ongereptee sneeuw. Op de tuinstoel is te zien dat er zeker 10 cm gevallen is.

Sneeuw balanceert op de takken en bladeren van planten en struiken. Tegen de schutting staat een tot spiegel verbouwd antiek stalraam

Doorkijkje in de tuin. Op de voorgrond een oude zwengelpomp bedekt met sneeuw. Op de achtergrond de nog ongeknotte wilgen. Alles bedekt met een laag sneeuw.

Morellenboom en berken met sneeuw. Daarachter de ijsbaan met een laag "snijs" en daarachter is het uitzicht helemaal verdwenen in de sneeuwmist. Wit zover het oog reikt

Galanthus Green Tear is one of the modern array of virescent snowdrops. Originally found growing in a woodland in the Netherlands. It is quite vigorous and tall for a nivalis cultivar.

Galanthus Dryad Gold Medal was bred and introduced by Anne Wright and is a vigorous yellow snowdrop. The colour benefits from sunshine.

Galanthus Modern Art has long outer petals that are marked with green at both ends. Inner markings can sometimes turn olive yellow in the sun.

We harvested a few of the carrots this morning because they were poking their shoulders out. I forget what the variety is called but they are supposed to look like this. They were neither sweet nor juicy, as I had hoped, but it's still a heck of a treat to get to eat out of the #garden in January.

We have planted randomly last July some garlic and thought after a few weeks that they had been eaten or something, as we couldn’t see them grow. We obviously didn’t know when and how to plant them… but got nicely surprised to see them popping out in December 🌱😊
Now the question is when is the right time to harvest them? 🤔
