Completed the standing desk riser. Not a "sit/stand" one - I have a seated desk in another room, this is in the "spare" room where space is limited.

Because it needs to move when people (like our eldest) visit l, I've made this collapsible. The whole thing folds down to the width of the rear legs.

Made from #PalletWood and some steel tubing from a disused mini-greenhouse.

Really pleased with this. I'll finish the ubiquitous blog post and share it in due course.

A white wooden A-frame with two shelves stands atop a black desk. It has vertical back legs and angled front legs (thus forming a right-angles triangle).
On the top shelf is a black monitor and the lower shelf holds a small keyboard. An open laptop sits on the desk surface beneath the frame.

was part of the summer camp of a local youth org, my job was mostly building stuff for the games the kids played.
but i did have a good amount of free time, and since the camps theme was "space", i deciced to screw together some pallets to build a tiny tie fighter.
still surprised i could stand inside it, considering the entire weight was carried by 2 planks that weren't even on the ground, only connected to the wings.
this was part of the roleplaying game the kids played throughout the week, where they also had to design their spaceships

was very fun to just cobble together a few pieces of wood meant to be burnt, and end up with a tie fighter that the kids could actually sit in.

tie fighter from start wars made out of wood, mostly wodden palletsadded a bit of black paint everywhere (we were heavily limited with black paint) and 2 steel pipes in the front with green cocktail firework sticks as the laser cannonsoh and the front and top pallet are mounted by a hinge, allowing you to fold it up to sit in (if you're small enough)

also, the sticker on the controls says we are tüv certified.me standing inside the pilot capsule. clearly i am not small enough to sit inside

#Introduction
I've been on Mastodon for quite some time now, but under another name. I started a new account because I decided to take a step back from world news, collapse, climate change, hunger, war, fascism and inequality.
In short less doom and gloom and a little bit of positive small scale projects that might also inspire or help others.

With this account I'll focus more on my day to day life, the things I do and make.

Of course I sometime still will post concerning subjects that provoke my rage or frustration. Sorry, it's not all moonshine and roses.

Having said that, I've a broad range of subjects that have my interest, so hopefully something useful will stick with you.

From my profile text:

#Collapse aware person, born @ 320 ppm CO2, world population 3.1 billion.

Fighting depression and #sadness by doing some positive and small scale things that might help people.

#Doorsday is here! 🚪

I live in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, but my company is based in Bavaria (and so is my employment contract). This means I have an unexpected holiday today (Corpus Christi), because I get to enjoy the Bavarian ones (of all 16 German states, Bavaria has the most public holidays, hehehe 😌)!
Fun fact: The city of Augsburg has a unique additional holiday that is limited to the city area! However, in my company, only the employees who are based in Augsburg, get the day off.

To celebrate my lazy day, today's #door is from #Augsburg Town Hall, and I love the wooden ornaments here! They are so humble yet very artistic.
The Town Hall itself is one of the most significant secular #Renaissance buildings north of the Alps. It was designed and built by Master Builder Elias Holl in 1615–1624. The Town Hall is most famous for its Golden Hall ("Goldener Saal"), but it's undergoing renovations and is mostly closed until 2026. On the website, they offer a 3-D tour though, if you're interested: https://my.dimension3.de/de/tour/rathaus-augsburg

A grand, symmetrical close-up captures the ornate entrance of a historic building, Augsburg Town Hall, in a vertical composition. A large, dark wooden double door with a radiating star pattern on each panel is framed by two substantial fluted marble columns with ornate capitals. Above the door, an arched transom features intricate wrought-iron decoration, including what appears to be a pineapple and other motifs. The columns support a projecting balcony with a balustrade, and directly above the door, an inscription carved into stone reads "PUBLICO CONSILIO PUBLICO SALUTI". Two arched windows with decorative grilles flank the entrance. The building's light-coloured facade shows multiple upper windows with dark frames and simple balconies.

I've had a non-blog day. MIL and wifey have a stall at a craft faire this Saturday, so I've been getting stuff ready.

But I realised something: I'm doing what I can, trying to get it right. In many other aspects of life, present and past, my motivation is/was desperately trying not to get it wrong. Totally opposite motivations.

Anyway, I still need to work on the cutting board.

Sanding the inside of the Orkan.
It aim at having a clean surface before covering it with glassfiber.
We can also spot screws and bolt that are going to be used as a little ballast.

Roughly carved wooden sculpture made from a large spruce burl, placed on a bed of wood chips outdoors. The sculpture has organic, bulbous forms with rounded protrusions, reflecting the natural irregularity of the burl. Tool marks from carving are visible on the light-colored wood surface, and numerous small dark holes or spots, likely natural imperfections or insect marks, are scattered across the sculpture. Green grass borders the woodchip-covered work area. The sculpute has interesting shapes in the form of a breeding bird.
