Just missed #WorldBookDay but every day's a book day, right? Here's an essay by Simon Cooke on Herbert Granville Fell as a Book Cover Designer... and an example of his dynamic Art Nouveau binding designs https://victorianweb.org/art/design/books/368.html
Things to do in Greater Manchester this weekend including sheep trails and tape parties
Children from Greenhill Primary enjoyed a great #WorldBookDay yesterday at #CoatbridgeLib with a visit from author Simon Lamb.
#WorldBookDay 1984 is a classic dystopian novel written by Orwell as a rejection of totalitarianism. This dystopian genre offers a story about the future with a horrific depiction of life. #BookSky 1984 novel by George Orwell #novel

One of several honesty booksellers in Hay-on-Wye, Wales
‘Hay-on-Wye is a destination for bibliophiles in the United Kingdom, with two dozen bookshops, many selling specialist and second-hand books… Richard Booth opened his first shop there, called The Old Fire Station, in 1962… by the 1970s Hay had gained the nickname "The Town of Books".’ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hay-on-Wye#Book_town

Ultimately, humanity faces a grave danger: the loss of existence and extinction. Everything will be replaced by machines operating with algorithms that rely on quantitative data, devoid of human cognition.

I moved up to 3rd in line at the library for "Theo of Golden"! I think this is the longest I have ever waited for a book.

My Name is Red
Novel by Orhan Pamuk
The Nobel Prize winner and one of today's most prominent contemporary Turkish writers delivers a novel that is a fiendishly devious mystery, a beguiling love story, a brilliant symposium on the power of art, and a “modern classic … rich and essential”

Felt a tiny bit sad today, it will be our last ever #WorldBookDay where the kids dress up.
Yes, it’s always stressful, but my two discuss, plan and make their costumes weeks in advance. And they do base them on characters from books they’ve read, not films.
So today they set off as Molly from Lottie Brook’s series and Moomintroll.
I’d like schools to have more reading for fun time all year round.
