#WritingGoals

Looking back, I have no idea how I got 1k words a day written between Feb and March. I’m lucky to get even 100 written these days.

1038 words writen with as many spelling mistakes this morning, out of 16057 total.

16k in 14 days, when my goal is 1000/daym, it feels quite good.

Sure, there are many 'deleted' paragraphs and whole scenes. And by deleted I mean strickthrough format, and I'm still counting them.

One thing learned from the defunct NaNo and primarly longhand writing (no deleting option you see).

#PennedPossibilities 615 — What is the best time of day for you to write? (Early or late morning, midday, afternoon, or nighttime?)

(don't think I answered any Penned Possibilities before)

I dare say morning.
Preferably not at home but on some cozy café.
That said, I do mine most in the evening, before sleep, because if I don't, I'll miss my daily goal.

How many books do you usually pump out in a year? Are you the slow-and-steady type or a full-blown writing beast?

2025-02-20

I've asked before, but I'm trying to figure out what kinds of I can set. I have a 500 words a day goal to write, but I'd like to start working in some editing. Anyone have any ideas? Pages? Minutes?

Embarking on a dissertation can feel overwhelming, but breaking it down into manageable chapters makes the process easier! Start with a clear strategy, focus on one chapter at a time, and don’t hesitate to seek help when needed. From the introduction to the conclusion, every part matters. Stay organized and keep pushing forward—you’ve got this! 💪📚

Oldest woke up early today. So I wrote on my phone while I sat in bed trying to get him back to sleep. Not sure I’ll get too many more words in today, with no school and all this snow outside, but I’m happy I got something done.

Why is it so hard for me to get down to when the kids are at school? I want to get so much done, but its hard to sit here and focus when I have the chance to mentally breathe.

On day 2 of having a writing goal:

-I have a goal every day, even on days when I’m a full time dad and have no time.
-it makes me feel accomplished, even with low word count.
-I check my count too often and stop writing.
-might not be the best words

2025-01-10

I feel lucky to have met this goal pretty early today. Hopefully I can get a few more words in during nap/quiet time.

@annathepiper Reworking goals feels so much like changing the goalposts. It’s not. It’s so not. Assessment time and debriefing projects is not passing judgement on self — it’s just us glamorizing some of our goals over others (like word count). New Month! New Goals! Writing is being done! Every word is closer to the celebration!
