Transplanted some of my #BokChoy & purple #tomatillo plants into larger pots. These starters are all being picked up this weekend by a few of my regular plant buyers here. There's some folks who get plants from me, every year 👩‍🌾

Split-screen composition:
Left frame, close-up of bok choy plants in black pots, foregrounded by an out-of-focus thumb giving a thumbs-up gesture.
Right frame, organized group of tomatillo starter plants also in black pots, arranged in a black tray, under open sunlight.

Both shots feature strong contrast of plants against dark soil and pots, with backgrounds of textured concrete and cracked light surfaces.

Pixie cup & lipstick #lichens & #liverwort mixed in with assorted #mosses. Super green microworlds 💚
Just another ecological component of a healthy & biodiverse, coastal temperate rainforest ecosystem on #Wsanec territory.

#ForestFriday

A lovely unnamed creek, meandering through a coastal temperate #rainforest in the Highlands area of #Wsanec territory. Very few old growth left in this forest; mostly 3rd growth & younger with a few 2nd growth trees mixed in. This is a great area to look for mushrooms.

A low-angle perspective of a lush woodland scene dominated by a large, leafless tree heavily covered in vibrant green moss. The moss hangs dramatically from its branches, creating a dense, tentacle-like appearance. Behind this central tree, a dense forest extends toward the horizon, with numerous tall, slender trees also adorned with moss, suggesting a moist environment. A small, dark pond or pool of water is surrounded by ferns. The overall atmosphere is damp, cool, and green, typical of a Pacific Northwest forest. The sky is overcast, providing soft, diffused light.

@LazarusMP Hey! Where abouts in our great & gorgeous Canada are you at? I'm on awesome #Wsanec Saanich territory.

The anniversary of my Dad's death from #covid cardiac arrest is coming up again in June. If anyone wants to support me & my family with our remembrance of my Dad & also help support us in long battle for justice from unmasked #SaanichPolice - please add me on your Signal - phoenixserenity.54

I'd like to compile a bunch of audio messages & any kind of artwork for this year's ceremony of beloved remembrance for my Dad. He died after getting infected by unmasked staff in local hospital. Unmasked cops, including the lead cop, Jason Whittaker - who is president of the SPD union abused us. I also want to compile something to let Saanich PD know - I am not fucking letting this go.

Please record:
Fuck you, Jason Whittaker & add whatever you want to rest of audio recording.

Please create Fuck You, Jason Whittaker or similar messages to #Saanich Police & tell them what you think of their antimasking egotistical loser of a 'leader' they chose to represent them.

Deer #antler that I found while hiking through the forest recently. I'm giving it to a #Wsanec Tseycum elder who made me a protection necklace that he handcrafted from one larger antler.

Close-up shot of a single deer antler (shed) resting on a mossy surface. The antler, predominantly light brown with darker accents, exhibits a smooth, curving form with two tines pointing upwards. The foreground consists of a bed of vibrant green moss intermingled with brown pine needles and decaying leaves

Great 3 hours of awesome #hiking through Thetis & Francis King parks, in the rain, with my good friend, Sarah.

I'm offline from tomorrow til March 11th for work respite break.

#ThrowbackThursday
4 years ago, I first met this gentle giant.
It's one of the only older Western red #cedar #trees left at #W̱MÍYEŦEN #NatureSanctuary. Most of the land had been logged more than once before it was acquired for conservation & rewilding. This is a 2nd growth cedar & it is over 150 yrs old.

The W̱MÍYEŦEN #Nature Sanctuary is a 42 acre protected forest and riparian area that supports biodiversity while preserving ecosystems and wildlife habitat. The tranquil natural environment, inspires an awareness of nature as teacher and essential ally.

wmiyetennaturesanctuary.com/

I'm a member of this local, biodiverse nature sanctuary. They mainly rely on memberships & public donations. They work with #Indigenous leaders/educators/naturalists from #Wsanec First Nations. The name was changed from the former Mary Lake Sanctuary to W̱MÍYEŦEN Nature Sanctuary to respect that the property is on native lands.

Me, in bright pink cargo pants standing in a damp forest, gently touching the massive trunk of an old-growth tree. Sunlight filters through the canopy, dappling across the bark. I have a colorful backpack, a baseball cap & pearl dangle earrings & holding a walking stick. Green moss grows on the lower part of the tree trunk & its branches. The surrounding forest is thick with other trees & foliage.

"I was here." - Beaver 🦫🌲

Very clear evidence of #beavers activity. You can see their many chew marks on this stump. This is in a small #Saanich community park, stewarded by citizens who live beside little Calvert Lake.

Access to trails is off of Prospect Lake Rd & easy to miss if you're not paying close attention. Only room for 2 cars to park on roadside pullouts. The trails aren't very well maintained & you can easily get lost around them. I've ended up in someone's backyard once, trying to hike back out. Wear long pants because there's a lot of places you have to bushwhack through along tiny footpaths. Lots of salal, Oregon grape, lady ferns (excellent for fiddleheads harvesting) & mushrooms.

Medium shot of a tree stump displaying beaver tooth marks taken outdoors in a forest setting. The stump is centered in the frame with green foliage filling the background & surrounding the base. The top part of the stump has jagged, light-colored marks indicative of beaver activity. Below is bark with a dark-colored & heavily textured wood.
