Just found out tonight that a good friend from my Flying Mag and Oshkosh days - Rob Mark - has set up an #XPlane #flightsim v12 rig and wants to confab with me to iron out the usual first set of kinks all new users experience. Happy to help.
And, if anyone here ever needs a little mentoring on X-Plane, DM me and I'll walk you thru anything I can. I go back to the first versions so not much that stumps me with the sim these days. I know a few tricks as well.

Nice magic hour shot of what the sim thinks is Yosemite Valley. Maybe not exactly correct, but I can use my imagination to envision Half Dome and El Capitan.
After several weeks of East Coast and Midwest assignments, my dispatcher had pity on me and I am finally coming back to the Left Coast in my #XPlane #flightsim #Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet. Nice magic hour light as I plow west at FL260, 380 knots of ground speed. Departed Broomfield, CO and no sig WX between here and Eugene.
What's sim flying worth if you can't have some virtual fun with it, eh?

Beautiful westbound sky tonight flying my #XPlane #flightsim #Cirrus SF50 Vision jet on a charter flight from St. Louis (KSTL) to Broomfield, CO (KBJC) hauling some virtual Pilatus suits from a conference back to their completion center.
Direct 75 kt. headwind is slowing things, but the extra fuel is worth this view.
Did not expect a pair of Piaggio 180s on the Pilatus ramp. The virtual suits tell me they were both traded in by the Ferrari F1 team. (Logo on far tail).
Having some #formation fun tonight in my #XPlane #flightsim. Took a couple of DC-3s out to Victorville, CA and just dinked around at 10,000' MSL and 120 mph.
Did not trade any paint.
Returned to KLAX and parked my ship in a FedEx hangar for the night.

Ich beschäftige mich gerade mit den Möglichkeiten von Blender, um 3D-Modelle für den Flugsimulator X-Plane 12 zu erstellen. Fokus kiegt auf der Cap San Diego im Hamburger Hafen.
Begleitend zeige ich hier einige Screenshots. Das konvertierte X-Plane Objekt wird dann als Freeware bei xplane-org veröffentlicht.
Just landed my #XPlane #flightsim virtual #Cirrus SF50 Vision jet at KOSH (IFR RNAV approach to RWY 18) to bring some virtual #EAA staffers back from a make-believe conference in Wilmington, DE.
Ground told me to park on Boeing Plaza but a Cathay Pacific four-seven was taking up all the space. Get a load of that cool livery! Taxied thru the back streets to park in front of the tower instead.

A few weeks ago, on final to Lake Tahoe, the plane froze up and I dumped it into the lake. On the panel are only switches for pitot and windshield heat, both were on.
Just this past week I learned there is a way to build a keyboard shortcut to turn ALL ice protection on, which turns on the X-plane version of a TKS weeping wing.
Went up into -30C +precip WX, and it stayed flying.
Problem solved.
