@tux Also ich hatte früher mal #OpenMediaVault auf einem #Odroid #XU4 laufen, da es
damals noch keine Raspis mit vernünftigem NW-Durchsatz gab.
War für meine bessere Hälfte, und hat problemlos geklappt... auch der #WAF war in Ordnung.
Soweit ich mich erinnere, kam ich beim Testen auf nen Datendurchsatz von 80MB/s. (mit einer großen Datei, und Windows-Client über SMB)
Fiend Finder is a #NativeApp #FOSS clone of Mamono Sweeper using the Gypsy #GameEngine.
As a bonus it plays classic #MineSweeper as well!

The Gypsy project began as the basis for the next version of #xu4, but now I'm working on making it a general purpose engine for smaller games.

- An update of the license to GPLv3+.
- Using #GLFW 3 on Windows (saving some memory).
- Karma adjustments from buying reagents match DOS version.
- Fixes for a few other issues.

In 2021 the musician Pieces of 8-Bit released a remake of the Ultima IV soundtrack on YouTube. Last year the #xu4 project was contacted to help create a music module for the game. This soundtrack has been updated in 2024 and is now finally available for xu4.

Ich lerne gerade dass meine #Odroid #XU4 #SBC nur 32 Bit sind und #ARMv7 wird in #paperlessngx nicht mehr unterstützt. So habe ich erst mal die letzte Version 1.17.4 am laufen.
Das Ganze läuft auf einem dietpi.com Image im Docker mit Portainer.
Appar Unem! Version 1.4 of #xu4 has been released with support for unique spell incantations and sounds. An improved module browser and new xBRZ scaling filter add some polish.
Be sure to update the U4-Recreated module which has the new spell sounds as well as new border, font, and avatar graphics.
Work on the next version of #xu4 is underway so new development snapshots have been posted. So far the changes include:
- Reset dungeons on exit to world.
- Sleep & poison effects work more like the original game.
- Improved game browser UI.

The Atari ST rendition is about half the tempo of other platforms, so it makes for a more laid-back listening experience.

This wraps up work on the spoken dialogue that began just over a year ago.
The U4-Recreated module
contains the voice streams and includes most of the U4 Upgrade graphics. The only new artwork is the abacus image by Joshua Steele. I was playing with the font to make it similar to the C64 version, but that has been put aside for now.
The latest #xu4 development snapshot is a release candidate for 1.3. This will be the ChangeLog entry:
- Support NPC voice streams. These are part of a new U4-Recreated module.
- Game can now be paused.
- Support Raspberry Pi 4 Model B.
- Some tweaks and fixes.
Work on adding voices to #xu4 characters continues and now most of the vendors have audio.
So far these have all been #TTS generated, but I started using a few recordings of human voices. #UltimaIV has a number of NPCs named after historical persons, but the spelling is tweaked which can make it difficult to know the pronunciation.
If anyone wants to play a character with their own voice please get in touch.
Hah! I got xu4 running on my DevTerm. Unfortunately I compiled code about three years old since I didn't realize the new sources are on GitHub. I think I'll have to find out how to uninstall it properly and the compile the 1.2 version. #xu4 #ultima4 #learninglinuxstuff #devterm
A pass over all the #xu4 town voice files to select voices and add effects has been completed. The U4-Recreated module and repository has been updated with the OGG files.
New #xu4 development snapshots are available which will play the NPC voice streams in the U4-Recreated game module. Most of the voices were randomly selected and so far only about 25% have been examined and tweaked. The heaviest processing is done on the ghosts in Magincia.

Was briefly looking at the #ODroid #XU4 #SingleBoardComputer (or perhaps the 4GB edition of the #RaspberryPi4) again as a low power replacement for my geriatric PC, especially since the only #Norwegian chain I know of that imports the former, will open up a store here soon.
It would likely at least suffice for my daily browsing and coding needs, and I don't really have the time for PC gaming anyway.
Realised that when I add up all the peripherals, it's not something I should waste money on.
