I think I prefer #discourse still, but a music friend persuaded me to sign up on a #XenForo forum and upon my initial pokings-around it seems pretty nice.

@muzej #XenForo is the spiritual successor to classic vB and is powering many forums out there. Forums still offer a great community feel for those who dislike the big tech "social media" offerings.
