🌿 AVANCE PROMETEDOR DEL YACÓN EN MAMANIRI HUERTA: Desarrollo Óptimo y Sólida Vitalidad 🌼

El día de hoy, 26 de abril, se realizó una inspección técnica al cultivo de Yacón (Smallanthus sonchifolius) establecido en la comunidad de Mamaniri Huerta – Río Abajo.

Se constató que las plantas presentan un crecimiento vigoroso, alcanzando alturas superiores a los 60 cm, con excelente sanidad foliar y robusto desarrollo radicular.

Este comportamiento fenológico indica una óptima adaptación a las condiciones edafoclimáticas locales y augura un ciclo productivo exitoso.

El equipo de R3Foresta celebra estos resultados que consolidan los esfuerzos por fortalecer la seguridad alimentaria, la diversificación agrícola y la resiliencia de las familias productoras frente al cambio climático.

Esperamos próximamente la emisión floral, un indicador clave para la formación de raíces tuberosas de alta calidad nutricional.

Harvested 10.5 kg of #Yacon tubers. Dehydrated some (delicious) and juiced the remainder to make syrup. Reduced 4 litres of juice to 500 mL syrup. This will be used as a sweetener and can also be used to activate yeast. The sugar in yacon (fructooligosaccharide) has no effect on blood glucose levels and acts as a prebiotic.

I harvested half of my Yacon plants before the worst of the hard frosts hit this week. I split a couple of plants and replanted and mulched them with wood chip. I hope they survive. I’ve also stored a dozen growing tips for potting on in spring. Guessing I have about 25 kg of tubers. #Allotment #Gardening #Yacon
