Husband used to do lots of country walking, but we are currently double checking the safety of wandering around Yorkshire Moors.
Two years ago we were planning to go to York/ Harrogate and coast. The Brontë family were in West Yorkshire so we might still have York on the to do list. But hopefully we can visit Yorkshire Sculpture Park en route ( home) because of it's connections to local park.

I'm no longer on Tripadvisor, but thought I take the chance to recommend Nettle in Settle (in the Yorkshire Dales) - its a lovely place to have lunch. The young staff are attentive & friendly, the food was brilliant & the building across three floors was delightful. If you're in Settle I would thoroughly recommend eating there, and supporting a business run by local young people.

South #Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has launched an £800,000 tender for a 12-month Demand Responsive #Transport (DRT) pilot serving Doncaster and Rotherham. The flexible, bookable service is designed for areas where fixed bus routes are limited, allowing passengers to pre-book or request shared journeys to work, education, healthcare and other essential services.
The scheme, backed by South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard, seeks experienced operators to test a more adaptable approach to public transport and improve connectivity. Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones and Rotherham Council leader Chris Read said the pilot would help plug gaps in the network and strengthen local links.
Funded through SYMCA’s #Transport Innovation Fund, the service is expected to begin by summer 2026.
