Spent the whole day at #ZKMKarlsruhe: five exhibitions, no rush, pure joy. Felt just like the good old pre-AI days, kind of like coming home.

➠ Superposition Composition – a piano playing tone sequences randomly generated from a quantum computer

➠ The Story That Never Ends: The ZKM Collection – the history of media art from the 1950s to the present

➠ All Memory Is Theft – a major retrospective of Belgian media artist Johan Grimonprez, blurring art and cinema, documentary and fiction, into multiple realities

➠ Masterclass 11 – scholarship program at the ZKM

➠ Fellow Travelers – art as a tool to change the world: a polyphonic and dynamic exhibition space, through which artists, scientists, communities, and citizens can collaborate and learn from each other

A vintage spherical television set with a cream-colored body and a large curved blue-tinted screen, showing abstract visuals. The TV is placed on a light wooden pedestal in a gallery with teal-colored walls, where other retro monitors and framed artworks are displayed in the background. An art installation with several red fabric sculptures resembling spinning dresses, suspended from the ceiling in motion, creating a swirling effect. In front of them sits a modified electric wheelchair, placed as part of the exhibition. The space has reflective flooring and mirrors, enhancing the dynamic movement of the red forms.A man is taking a selfie in front of the entrance to ZKM Karlsruhe (Zentrum für Kunst und Medien). He is wearing a black baseball cap with white text </html>, round black sunglasses with bright turquoise reflective lenses, a white goatee, a black shirt, a light gray backpack, and a white portable neck fan hanging around his neck. Behind him is a glass door with white signage showing the opening hours in German: "///// ZKM zkm karlsruhe" at the top, large bold white letters. The background shows reflections of modern buildings and glass architecture in bright daylight.A retro Eizo CRT computer monitor on a white pedestal, displaying abstract colorful bar-like shapes in shades of blue, pink, purple, and green. The monitor is gray with a thick frame and is presented in a minimalist gallery setting with a plain white wall behind it.

"DigitalBug at ZKM in Karlsruhe for the first time. ZKM director Alistair Hudson is kicking off the opening of the exhibition ""Johan Grimonprez. All Memory Is Theft"" in the ZKM lobby. Later, in the exhibition it could experience some old analog screens from pre-digital times. For a digital bug the ZKM must feel like home... "

Le cafard digital au ZKM : le directeur Alistair Hudson démarre le vernissage de l'exposition. "Johan Grimonprez. All Memory Is Theft". Plus tard il a peu faire l'expérience de vidéos joués dur des téléviseurs anciens, venus de temps pré-digitaux. Quand on est un cafard digital, arriver au ZKM c'est comme rentrer chez soi...

Today, I visited the exhibition Choose Your Filter! – Browser Art since the Beginnings of the World Wide Web at the ZKM – Zentrum für Kunst und Medien in Karlsruhe.

An excellent exhibition, radical enough in its presentation to capture the spirit of the time in which these works were created. I was happy to see and browse the works of many friends after a long time, works I still remember very well.

A bald man with a white goatee, wearing black round sunglasses with turquoise lenses and a high-collared black shirt with metallic buttons. Behind him, a large screen displays a chaotic mix of colorful, glitched text, code, and pixelated graphics in red, yellow, blue, green, and black. The digital distortion suggests themes of internet history, coding, or digital art.A retro CRT computer monitor displaying raw HTML code in black text on a red background. The computer is part of a row of similar old monitors on a black table, suggesting an interactive or archival digital art installation. A black keyboard and mouse are in front of the screen, and a pair of headphones is on the table nearby.A dimly lit exhibition space with a white pedestal holding a black computer keyboard and mouse. In the background, a large, colorful artwork resembling an abstract web page layout is mounted on the wall. The colors are bold and geometric, with red, yellow, green, and blue blocks. Other screens and installations are visible in the distance.
