Today marks seven days since I switched from Zorin 18 (which I liked very much) to openSUSE :opensuse: Tumbleweed.
Honestly? The name just felt like a sign... it aligns perfectly with my medicine routine 🌿 🥦 😂 lol
Jokes aside, I really like how it handles Flatpaks (sandboxed for the win!). Zorin 18 also worked great with Flatpaks and was generally much easier to set up in many ways, but it was time to try something else.
So far, so good!
I had to change a few settings, and the new terminal threw me off a bit at first, but now everything is working perfectly.

Si je prends l’exemple du dépatement 47, le CDG47 accompagne des collectivités sur tous les sujets numériques, et si possible oriente vers des outils libres, Zimbra pour la messagerie, Proxmox pour des serveurs de virtualisation, #Nexcloud de l’@adullact #adullact et autres ( #ZorinOs pour postes ne passant pas à W11) …
Samedi, lors d'une install-party, j'ai installé ZorinOS sur un MacBook Pro delaissé...Résultat au-delà des attentes: installation sans histoire (mais longue parce que la distro pesait presque 8 gigas), et, une fois installé, un Linux bien fourni en logiciels, rapide, sur un ordi de haute qualité...le plus dur était de trouver la touche qui donne accès au choix du support de boot!

Wie bereits gestern an anderer Stelle hier im Fediverse geschrieben, bin ich nicht so der Typ für fixe Datumsangaben, sondern reagiere lieber spontan.
Daher hier meine Änderungen vom Februar 2026:
02/2026: GrapheneOS auf mein neu gekauftes (kurz gebraucht und wie neu) Pixel 10 Pro XL installiert (direkt am Tag des Sendungseingangs).
02/2026: Proton Drive auf ein 1 TB geordert.
02/2026: Kündigung meines Mobilfunkvertrages bei freenet (Telekom-Netz [Bedankt Euch bei Tim Höttges!]). Leider geht die Vertragslaufzeit noch bis Anfang 09/2027.

Nice! I was able to use #dvgrab with my #FireWire card and #DV #camera without any configuration on #Fedora #Linux. I won't be sticking to it because of the short term support, but happy to know that part of my old PC will work just fine under Linux!
Thinking about going with #AlmaLinux instead because of the longer support cycle. That or #ZorinOS.
As I’m waiting for my SSD to arrive I’m considering #Linux distro I’ll be installing on my old PC. Been running #Mint for work in a VM and have it installed on a miniPC and old laptop, and it’s fine but I don’t like the old Windows style of active apps on the taskbar. I find it confusing to see which app is currently active. It’s done with a distinctive color, but somehow my brain says it’s not the active window…
So #ZorinOS seems very nice! Or maybe I should try #Fedora first…
I find a smartphone with Linux as firmware interesting. However, I just flashed my Pixel 10 Pro XL with GrapheneOS and am very happy with it.
But my tower PC and laptop run on Linux (ZorinOS and Pop! OS).

Dank Ubuntu/Zorin OS18 kann ein 15 Jahre alter Aspire Z5710 all-in-one PC (6 GB RAM, i3 530x4) weiter dienlich sein.

Kleine Warnung an alle die #Synology #abb Software unter #zorinos 17 nutzen und auf 18 upgraden wollen. Das endet in einem Kernel Panic!!!
ABB ist aktuell nur bis kernel 6.8 freigegeben. Ihr müsst entweder ABB vorher deinstallieren, oder (lange?) warten bis Synology in die Pötte kommt und endlich 6.17x unterstützt. Immer das gleiche, ABB unter linux ist echt die Seuche.. :-(
