Sunrise from Aarhus Harbour, with scattered clouds and the Sun just barely peeking over the horizon.

Glædelig mandag. Another Monday. Another week in a world in which events keep happening, endlessly and relentlessly. Here's a postcard from #Aarhus to wish you a dull, boring, uneventful week.

Short version: a skyline and wild grasses. Fuller description. Foreground: a small evergreen tree on the left edge, then a row of thick long-stemmed beige wild grasses filling the bottom third of the scene. Above it, a strip of grey-blue sea. Beyond, the distinctive skyline of Aarhus Ø docklands with rectangular and triangular and narrow skyscraper buildings. Their many windows and silvery facades are glowing gold in a winter afternoon sunset backed by a pale blue sky.

I hope everyone is having a nice day, but especially whoever knitted little outfits for the statues at city hall

Short version: statue of woman in knitted clothes. Fuller description: The statue 'Vaagnende kvinde' ('Waking woman') erected in 1920, on a plinth at Rådhuset, Aarhus City Hall. A figure of a woman on a plinth. Sunshine and shadow and deep blue sky with white clouds above. The rectangular City Hall clock tower rising behind her. The life-size figure has one leg slightly raised, as if taking a step, with arms raised above her head. Someone has dressed her in a turquoise and green skirt; a dark orange sarong wrap; a dark blue bolero; and a dark blue head covering. All knitted and lovely.

Short version: harbour at sunset in light snow. Fuller description: Aarhus harbour, Denmark, mid-afternoon about a fortnight ago. Just before sunset, a freezing day with light snow and a clear pale blue sky. Across the water, the distinctive skyline of Aarhus Ø docklands with rectangular and triangular and narrow skyscraper buildings. Their windows and silvery facades are glowing gold in a winter afternoon sunset backed by a pale blue sky. Bordering the bottom of the scene, just in front of us, the community promenade to the left and the wooden planks of the footbridge we’re standing on, all lined with a thin layer of white snow.
