Bonjour from Nérac! 🐻✨
🐾
Join me in this charming market town in Southwestern France which is full of history, half-timbered houses, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and soak it all in
🐾
Nérac sits along the Baïse River, with its beautiful old stone bridge arching over the water. Strolling along the riverbanks, I could almost picture the days of King Henry IV, who spent much of his childhood here. The town was once an important royal residence, and you can still visit the remains of Château de Nérac, which was once home to Henry and his wife, Queen Margot! 🏰
🐾
Saturday is Market day in Nérac and it's a feast for the senses! The region is known for its delicious prunes, Armagnac brandy, and duck-based delicacies (though I prefer my snacks of the marmalade variety! 🍊). The Saturday morning market is the best time to experience local life—filled with fresh produce, artisan cheeses, those famous Agen prunes and lots friendly chatter
🐾
There’s something magical about wandering through Nérac’s narrow streets, past beautiful stone archways, medieval façades, and hidden courtyards. Have you ever visited a small town that felt like it was straight out of history? Let me know in the comments! 🐾✨

Bonjour from the beautiful French countryside! 🇫🇷🐻
🐾
Today, I’ve arrived in the Gers department, a place where rolling fields, charming villages, and delicious local treats come together to create a true taste of rural France. This region is famous for its food and drink, and I can confirm—everywhere I turn, there’s something delightful to sniff out!
🐾
Plums, plums, and more plums! I’m surrounded by endless plum orchards, the very same ones that produce the famous Agen prunes. These little gems have been enjoyed in France for centuries, and I hear they make a very tasty tarte! I wonder if I’ll find some for a bear-sized snack? 🍑✨
🐾
Gers is also known for its gastronomic treasures from the rich, buttery foie gras to the flavorful wild mushrooms that pop up in the woodlands. And let’s not forget the local tipples! While I don’t drink alcohol, humans seem to love Armagnac brandy and the crisp white wines of Côtes de Gascogne. Santé! 🍷
🐾
Just beyond the orchards, I can see the pretty little village of La Romieu, with its medieval towers standing tall against the sky. But more on that later, I think this little bear is about to go on a plum-picking adventure first! 🌿🐻
🐾
Gers is rural France at its finest—slow, peaceful, and oh-so-tasty! Have you ever been? What’s your favorite countryside escape? ✨

"Paddington removed his hat and laid it carefully on the table while Mr Brown poured out the tea. He looked hungrily at the cakes, in particular at a large cream-and-jam one which Mr Brown placed on a plate in front of him."

Did you know Tower Bridge is not London Bridge?
🐾
Tower Bridge in London 🇬🇧 might be the city's most famous bridge thanks to its Neo-Gothic architecture and lifting central sections. When it opened in 1894, it was the most sophisticated bascule bridge in the world. It was designed by architect Sir Horace Jones and civil engineer Sir John Wolfe Barry,
🐾
It is sometimes confused with the old London Bridge, about half a mile upstream. A popular urban legend says that in 1968, Robert P. McCulloch, the purchaser of the old London Bridge that was later shipped to Lake Havasu City in Arizona, believed that he was in fact buying Tower Bridge
🐾
But Tower Bridge is not just a pretty face, it's used by over 40,000 people (and a few bears) every day to cross the Thames River
