@johncarlosbaez These courses are largely mistargeted and not helpful. Fortunately they often can be speeded up, and the questionaire at the end can be answered without much difficulty. They are largely an embarrassment. Sometimes also a mockery of what they pretend to teach, auch as the phishing one, that requires a prior email announcement to rescue it from the spam folder because it gets labelled precisely as a phishing attempt.

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother reviewing when my recommendation is effectively overruled because a "statistical reviewer" (who I don't really think is a statistician but someone who uses stats - i.e., not more a statistician than me) didn't think my concerns were serious.

Quick follow up on my presentation for #HCII2025. While its always good to present, as the only remote presenter I kind of felt a bit left out. It was difficult to encourage human contact, especially as the time keeper was a bit cruel to include my friendly introductory small talk in my presentation time. Tip: dont do that! But, I spose some ppl just dont get the virtual/real world intersection and how to help bridge that gap. Ironically, it was an HCI conference 🤔😶

#Academia needs to stop it’s servile habit of using aristocratic titles instead human names. Obviously give the titles and don’t alter quotations, it’s an important part of their historical identity, but I mean, honestly. We need to "Citoyen Capet" them.
