Heh... So, I can't pull off a lot of #accents well -- except a #WWDITS vampire. I've butchered a lot other accents (as attested by my British ex). Though my Italian accent isn't too bad. I had fun speaking in #Latin with an Italian accent (but how else would it be spoken?). I also recited #HomericGreek in a sing-song accent with a touch of #Sanskrit ('cuz, #IndoEuropean). Does anyone else indulge in accents when they act out scenes? Does anyone else act out scenes?

Actualités des médias sur un de "nos" sujets : une boite qui vend des cours de langue déguise une publicité en "étude" sur la disparition ou le maintien des "#accents régionaux" ; ils disent avoir demandé "l'avis des Français" et affichent des pourcentages sur une carte de la France, sans rien dire des questions posées, de la méthode d'enquête, de rien. Un titre piège à clics, quelques chiffres sortis d'un chapeau et un milliard de liens vers les cours de la boite en question. Bon, pourquoi pas, apparemment c'est à la mode des pseudo-sondages pour faire de la pub à un truc, c'est une astuce d'époque qui exploite notre habitude de voir des sondages ludiques dans tous les sens, partout.
Mais de là à ce que des vrais JOURNALISTES de gros médias nous sollicitent pour nous demander notre avis sur cette "étude" ?!?! Et fassent des sujets pour résumer cette "étude" de 10 lignes à la télé comme si c'était un truc ? Sérieusement, quoi, on a aucun avis sur cette pub, on a pas testé leurs cours de langues. Pour les lessives non plus on a pas d'avis si ça lave vraiment plus blanc que blanc ou un peu moins blanc que blanc.

What the hell is with all you lazy non #NJ people who can't pronounce three basic words differently?
Is it me or have Americans always put glottal stops in words which should have a `tt’ sound in the middle of them? I’m hearing them say “bu’on” instead of “button” and so on a lot. This, to me, sounds more like something that some southern eastern #English and some #Scottish #accents use but I hadn’t heard it until quite recently. Of course language and accents evolve but I don’t know whether this is recent or not.
Been playing #BaldursGate3. One of the things I appreciated is that instead of the usual "Dwarves = Scottish Accent" used in a lot of fantasy media, this game instead has Irish dwarves.

Prompted by my husband I tried testing my accent on the BoldVoice website. It thinks his accent is "British English" - a native English speaker with a British accent. Albeit with elements of German and Chinese. As for me, very Scottish me, it says "Your accent is Chinese, my friend. I identified your accent based on subtle details in your pronunciation." If you live in RI long enough, don't have cable, and watch a bit of local digital satellite TV, you'll see a significant percentage of local companies/lawyers/etc create a 2nd flight of their campaign where they attempt to hide their peculiar Rhode Island accents. I wonder if this also happens in NY, MA, NJ, etc.

I think #Vermont is the only #NewEngland state that pronounces the letter R is because they're (technically) land-locked. Those Rs can't escape! This also explains the glottal stops as those Ts couldn't get in.
