In a sunny mature woodland, three wavey concrete blocks hold unusually shaped steel cycle racks - emerging at an angle from the concrete in a soft, rounding form. Decaying text applique reads ‘Law Cycles’ with a local phone number gradually fading away with time.

“The way to counter Reform is to stop talking about #cycling and #walking, and talk about the outcomes of #cycling and #walking,” the #ActiveTravel #England chief says

Chris Boardman has called for public “anger and frustration” about #roadsafety to be “pointed in the right direction”, and away from its current “easy” focus on #cycling #infrastructure and #ebikes, perpetuated he says by “sloppy” journalism and Reform #UK’s divisive rhetoric road.cc/content/news/chris-boa

Under a cloudy sky with patches of brilliant blue showing through, Salisbury crags loom over the concrete public space outside the Scottish Parliament, its footing yellowed with gorse bushes in bloom. The stone setts give way to a bank of wildly different shapes bent from metal, creating a small field of unique cycle racks that look more like a public art installation than a functional object. With nothing locked to them, perhaps that’s also not how they’re perceived.

@ScottishGreens This has been a genuinely great step forward, but if only •all• of Scotland’s local authorities had actually •properly• got on board to develop plans and then actually implement projects to improve infrastructure and make it easier for everyone to get around… Sadly many councils are much more talk than action, and many are not even that… 😢

I hear today is #WorldBicycleDay so here is my lil orange wonder, next to a wild verge near the gym.
(And yes, it's got quite a lot of stuff hanging off it 😂 )

The bike has lights, locks, cameras and sleigh bells.

The weather is partly sunny; under a mix of cloud and blue skies, a black, bestickered, front-loading cargo bike is parked at the top of a hill with a sprawling view of Edinburgh behind it. To the right of frame, the prominent figure of the crags and Arthur’s Seat loom up in the middle of the otherwise urbanised view; in the background, the sea and hills beyond.

@debseed Hi Deb 👋 welcome 🤗
I'm an #ActiveTravel enthusiast in Swansea, mostly walking here although my partner has a folding e-bike (that I'm not allowed to borrow 😄).

I did find that there's more work involved in finding people to follow & interact with here, but once that snowballed, it's a much nicer experience. Following hashtags worked for me, it might for you too. And don't be afraid to mute and block people/hashtags/words liberally if you stumble across anything you don't want to see!

The weather is dry: a gravel track heads straight off into the distance, flanked by long, green vegetation and a slight hill with another minor track alongside. The path cuts through a field of Oilseed Rape, with bold yellow flowers and a partly cloudy sky above.

Riding home last week, I saw what I thought was Big Bird from Sesame St face down in the mud, on the side of a busy dual carriageway. I stopped, went back and decided to rescue him.

"Don’t let them get away with stifling our city by stealth"

The Council are "eco-zealots"!? What a prat Iain Whyte is.

Luckily in Edinburgh the Conservative councillors are outnumbered. They remain a whiny irrelevance.
