OK..yeah...I get it now. I definitely understand the appeal to creating the shadows and lighting with the airbrush. Man that was a learning experience. Some issues with the paint "disappearing from the mini. After cleaning the airbrush, it turns out that the paint was just too dark and the initial color that landed on the mini was just the paint being thinned from after cleaning the brush when I primed this morning.

But I eventually figured it out. There was cursing... A lot of "What. The. Fuck!" But in the end I haz a learning.

Last Sunday I got to do some #airbrushing on my #PanzerIV and I primed the tank itself red and the Panzerwerk tracks black.

This one photo shows the customized steel texture effect I attempted for the first time, using uncle NightShift's methods. Unpainted it looked foul but after priming... Much, much better! #ScaleModeling

The one thing I'm going to have to figure out, or 3D print, is a damn holder for the Paasche H cause w/the paint holder on the bottom, there was no way to put it down without it tipping over. And the holder that came with the compressor is useless.

The airbrush also came with a "holder" but I'll be damned if I can figure out how it works or where to put it. I couldn't find any reference folders of it being used.

Time hasn't been easy to find this Autumn, and I failed to thin the Zvezda paints well to get them through my airbrush. Brushpainting them also wasn't too nice.

So I reverted to my trusty VMA 71017 Russian Green 4BO and covered the tank. Tracks and the rollers got a VMA 71056 German Grey treatment, which I also painted manually on plain metallic surfaces (cables, tools, etc) for the steel look.

Progress, at long last, is nice 😅

If I'm going to use the airbrush for priming, is there airbrush priming paint that I have to get or do I need to do traditional priming with a spray can?

Found out that there are 2 classes being given at local makerspace, #TXRX that are of interest to me. Tomorrow I’m taking an SLA (resin) #3DPrinting course. This should help with expectations on what I should expect when it comes time to set ours up.

And on Fri, I’m taking an intro to #Airbrushing. Since I’ve not had a chance to practice with mine, this will help get over initial feelings of intimidation. I took this class years ago but without any real need to learn it. In this class I can bring in a #miniature to practice on.

This week is gonna be all about learning. 🤓
