This is a black and white photo in landscape format of a large cargo aircraft with multiple streams of vapour forming above and behind the wings. Los Angeles (2018).

To the left of centre is a FedEx Boeing 767 cargo jet in flight and climbing shortly after takeoff. The view is oblique with the tail and left side in view. The aircraft is flying from right to left and diagonally across the photo from the lower right towards the upper left and it's wing span filling about half the image. The fuselage and engine cowlings are white with the rear of the fuselage and fin being dark. On the front of the fuselage, engines and fin are the large bold letters 'FedEx' the name of the cargo airline / delivery company. What is noticeable in the image is the large amount of white steam like, water vapour forming on the upper wing surfaces and a long stream trailing behind the wing tips and out of view behind the plane. The sky surrounding the aircraft is clear and cloudless, devoid of any detail and rendered dark grey.

The location is Los Angeles International Airport, built less than a km from the Pacific ocean coast. The vapour trails forming on the wings are caused by the wings upper surface convex shape causing a drop in atmospheric pressure which provides the plane with it's lift and thus ability to fly. A side effect of the sharp pressure drop is a reduction in temperature, which in the warm and damp air causes the vapour to form.

On our little airport there are no skygates or busses to the planes. Passengers walk to the plane and go up the little stair built into the door. The plane has 35 seats, about as much as a bus. Travelling still feels a little bit fascinating.

This aircraft, named “Flying Colors of South America”, entered service in 1973, on routes between the U.S. and premier South American destinations. Gordon, confident that the aircraft would be so strongly associated with Braniff by reputation, did not place the Braniff International logotype anywhere on the plane's exterior. This is a close-up, head-on, colour photo in landscape format of a united states air force jet fighter. Inyo County, California (2017).

The background of the photo is filled with arid, light brown desert wilderness with a steep rocky cliff rising from the base of the image to the 2/3rds up point. Above and to the left of centre is a jet fighter, viewed from the front and filling about 1/4 of the frame. The jet is flying towards and to the right of the camera and is banking to the left (the jet's left). The plane has a single canopy aft of the nose and two rectangular air intakes on either side for the two jet engines. Outboard of the engines are two streamlined external fuel tanks. At the rear are two tall vertical fins. There is a thick heat haze left in the jet's wake with a slight yellow/brown tint marking the aircraft's exhaust plume.

The jet is a venerable McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle belonging to the California Air National Guard.
