Deep in the Chilean Altiplano, near the Bolivian border, lies the remote village of Isluga. Sitting above 3,700 meters, it’s framed by vast high-altitude plains and the Isluga volcano. A striking blend of traditional Andean architecture and rugged volcanic landscapes.

Isluga, a small village of the Chilean altiplano, in the Andes, in front of the Isluga Volcano.
A photo from a few years ago that I took while climbing the Juncal Glacier, a beautiful glacier with a fragile and complex ecosystem. Chile has numerous glaciers, approximately 80% of the glaciers in South America. Climate change is accelerating the melting of Chilean glaciers, causing mass loss and fragmentation.
On World Environment Day, it is important to recognize the natural environment and understand how our actions affect the entire planet.
