@neil Just learned #konqueror is still maintained and has an idependent engine - KHTML. So this would be an option for KDE users. Though the focus serms to on #Angelfish which works well on mobile too, but uses blink engine from Google.

One strategy for making a #postmarketOS #plasmamobile #linuxphone useful is to create webapps for some of all those services that there is no app for. I gave up on Tidal for now due to the DRM issue, but here are some that works well:

* E-boks - A secure mailbox danes can use to acess mail from public and private services - from gouvernment departments to your payment receipt from your employer, using the official danish secure login MitID.
* DMI - The Danish Meterological Institute. This is not quite as good as the android app, but still useful. #angelfish is having problems with the slider in the weather map section, and in general it is less mobile friendly than the app.
* Sejladsudsigten - Danish weather prognosis map for sailers, providing wind, current, wave, water level and other data useful for sailors.
* DRTV - The Danish Radio/TV broadcast tv (and radio) streaming section. This is about as good as their app, listening to the jazz radio channel writing this.

Todays #postmarketOS adventure was logging into #tidal. Unfortunately it didnt work, neither with #angelfish nor #firefox. The error, S6001, is about #drm, according to the internet. Does streaming from tidal or similar work for other postmarketOS users?

As an aside, I am not much of a fan of #KDE Plasma DE but I have to say KDE's stand alone applications have been super solid.

#Angelfish has been a solid and fast browser.

#KPat has been a great desktop solitaire game

and #Tokodon has been the most reliable and easy #Mastodon app that I have used on the desktop.

Been playing around with the Mango Pi Quad today. With running #Clementine, #Kpatience, and #Angelfish at the same time I am hovering just under 60% ram usage.

#LXDE must use witchcraft to keep the ram usage so low.

Oh, and specifically I was listening to @somafm Cliqhop amd playing Klondike on Kpat. I had #Wikipedia open to look up the history of Solitaire/Klondike.

Update 7:

Cleaned up the #XFCE DE.

#LXDE is configured and running very well. I was able to get #Snaps integrated and appearing in the menus. The same can not be mentioned for #flatpak

With all the tweaks, LXDE idles in the low 30% for ram use. When running #Angelfish browser I got it to peak into the 50s.

Overall this has been a pretty fun learning experience.

Oh, and active cooling is more a requirement than a suggestion. The Mango Pi started to throttle in the high 70s for me.

This toot from the #MangoPi Quad #SBC took much longer to post than I wanted.

Fun Fact: I attempted to post a toot from 4 different gui based web browsers. #Firefox, #Dillo, #Chromium, and #Surf either did not load #Fosstodon or froze/crashed in the process.

The only browser to work without killing the CPU or "the fun" is: #Angelfish. Only downside is it wont let me attach pictures :(

But I can do polls!

I finally decided to get a proper second device to run #postmarketOS on, so I bought a Pixel 3A! Fully mainline and #PlasmaMobile is very fluent on it, it's great!

I'll keep my sim-card in my Android phone for now but I'll use it to browse the fediverse (#Tokodon), watch YouTube (#Plasmatube), browse the web (#Angelfish), chat on Matrix (#Neochat), etc. I'll probably find a ton of bugs, so let's get these reported and fixed!
