I've never been too clear exactly what these animals on the front of the former bank building at Bridgeton Cross are, but I love them none-the-less.

I love this little bat on the Sandyford Henderson Memorial Church on Kelvinhaugh Street in Glasgow. I wonder how many people have walked past this church in the 170 years since it was built and haven't noticed the bat nestled into the overhang beside one of the doors.

Sometimes it seems Glasgow's architecture is infested with owls. This one's above the entrance to the Randolph Buildings on the University's Gilmorehill Campus.

Until yesterday, I'd never noticed these wonderful intertwined Celtic creatures below the feet of Saint Mungo on the entrance to the Glasgow University Union on University Avenue. It's a beautiful little design detail.

This rather amazing woodwork is part of a front door on Prince's Terrace in the Dowanhill area of the West end of Glasgow. The terrace was designed by James Thomson and was built around 1870, but the door was apparently added during a re-fit in 1880.

I absolutely love this little owl on a Georgian townhouse on Saint Vincent Street in Glasgow. It was built in the 1830s, but the owl appears to be part of later alterations. Thanks to Niall Murphy of the Glasgow City Heritage Trust for pointing it out during his recent talk on the architect J.J. Burnet.
