#MakeShitMonday, #antenna edition...
I got my Technician license back in the spring and have mostly been on VHF and UHF nets locally. I picked up an older HF radio a month or so ago at an estate sale and have been reading about antennas and wanting to get on the air with HF.
Over the weekend I installed a simple half wave dipole for 10m in the attic that my friend, @KR4BTP, and I made. It's not the ideal location for an antenna, but it was easy to install, got me on the air, and I didn't get trapped in the rabbit hole of lightning protection.
I made my first QSO (a cross-country contact, North Carolina to Colorado) just after getting the antenna up, and I joined a local 10m net tonight. 🎉
