Dear #DoomsdayPreppers, is there anything online worth #archiving locally? Just curious! Sometimes I do feel that we should have local copy of some useful stuff. The internet is largely temporary with constantly changing narratives, and everything is slowly getting locked up.

Regarding various news sites blocking the Internet Archive because someone, somewhere, might be using it to train AI.

Recently I switched my music experience from SoundCloud to Bandcamp. I went through my playlists, albums and likes and bought matching tracks on Bandcamp.

I am trying to backup not just the app, but all associated data (save progress, configurations, source code, binaries, everything) Data on these apps goes all the way back to 2009 or earlier.
I want this Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (almost 6 years old now) to be my final Android device.
Am I doing this right? Is my data bundled inside the APK/APK+ files? Are they installable (in a virtual machine, sometime in the future)
Android has been one of the 3 major hurdles I still can't cross to degoogle my life (the other 2 being YouTube, and Golang (which seems to be used on so many programs I use) GMAIL is a 4th hurdle, but it is a lot smaller. A lot of the apps are Internet based, and won't run, but I still value their preservation.

Estoy armando una especie de tool para poder agregarle metadata especifica del Archivo a PDFs.
La idea es que quede 100% abstraído del archivo pdf. Y que se puedan definir regiones con información.
El objetivo es poder documentar en que catálogo o revista aparece que item o empresa, sea haciendo una publicidad o una nota sobre un videojuego. Y por ejemplo poder saber en donde se promociono tal juego.
Para los que recién me conocen, estamos armando el Archivo Histórico del Software Argentino https://archivodelsoftware.ar con el objetivo de conservar y preservar disquetes, cds, casetes que fuero producidos y distribuidos en el país.
Wrote a #bash script last night to put my plan for #archiving source video and audio files from past projects to #BluRay for cold storage into action
1. divide files into ~22GB buckets with #fpart
2. generate ~1GB of parity data for each bucket with #par2
3. copy the listing of all bucket contents into each directory for reference
4. create an #ISO9660 image of each partition with #mkisofs
5. burn each .iso to BD-R with #growisofs
6. verify the contents with par2 for extra peace of mind

hello~~ working on organizing my personal digital archive. looking for resources or thoughts on file management particularly for decades worth of photos, documents, and personal digital projects (collage, video etc). what logic do you follow for your folders? do you think your logic is / could be legible to others? if you re-started your folder hierarchy from scratch, what might you do differently?
currently working with a docs/photos dichotomy at the very top level, then largely by year within those. but it gets messy from there.

A piece of glass is a useful thing for flat copy photography, to make things stay flat (I'm photographing a curly paper RAOB pamphlet today). It's also a good way to tell you that your lights are in the right place, because it's nice and annoyingly reflective! I haven't yet built a black tent over my table, but I can see that I probably will at some point.
