My 2024 Art Calendar has taken its place on the bookcase in our entryway hall. A fresh artwork every day. The art calendar is the last thing that I see when I leave home and the first thing that welcomes me back home.

Art Calendar 2023 has been a trusty companion for 365 days, so it is only fitting that I celebrate those days with Marie-François Firmin-Girard, the last artist featured in my Art Calendar of 2023.

Marie-François Firmin-Girard was a French painter known for his charming genre scenes and landscapes. He was born on December 7, 1838, in Poncin, France, and died in Paris on October 9, 1921. He studied under renowned artists such as Léon Cogniet and Alexandre Cabanel. He gained recognition for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to capture the atmosphere and essence of everyday life.

One of his notable works is “Flower Seller on the Pont Royal,” painted in 1872. This painting depicts a scene on the famous Pont Royal bridge in Paris, where a flower seller stands with a bouquet in her hand. The vibrant colors and careful brushwork showcase Firmin-Girard’s skill in capturing the beauty of a fleeting moment.

Firmin-Girard’s art often portrays scenes from Parisian streets, gardens, and markets. His paintings evoke a sense of nostalgia and offer glimpses into the daily lives of people in the 19th century.

I've worked on this all year, and I picked my 14 favorite images so far from my series of 100 to put into this one. I've been sharing the wallpaper versions of them here on the Fediverse as I've made them.

I just listed it on Etsy and my own website, with Amazon Handmade coming soon. (It will take longer to process it on Amazon because they'll have to spread out the calendars across the country to make it available to Amazon Prime, but it'll get there eventually.)

Oh, my goodness I am so relieved and proud of this one. I think this is my best work to date. It turned out so nice!!

I have two sizes: Letter and Tabloid. They literally drink ink cartridges (which makes them more expensive), but that also means the color is deeply saturated and rich--far more intense than the calendars from previous years. The double-sided matte photo paper really makes the darks pop.

This calendar centers form over function, with the art taking center stage a lot more than it has in the past. It's truly an Art Calendar.

This time around it has all the bird names, links to phone and tablet versions of all the images, and a sample greeting card, too!

This was truly a labor of love a year in the making, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Spent all day laying out and color calibrating my images from screen to print for my 2024 Art Print Bird Calendar.

I. Am. So. Frickin'. Excited!!!!

It's turning out so nice! I wanted this year to be very elegant and really emphasize the images instead of the dates, sort of like buying a "pack of practical prints" of my work... I'm so stoked that after all the tweaking and futzing and Photoshop work they're turning out just like I wanted them to!

The amount of ink I'm going to end up buying to put on these babies is gonna break me, but I'm hoping to do a 8.5x11" version this year as well as the splashy 11x17" one I've done for the last two years.

I can't wait to get these out into the wild! I have literally been working on this all year, one bird at a time, and it is so satisfying to see the whole thing finally start to reach fruition...

I feel like I've accomplished something today. Like, I added to the fabric of the universe somehow. Made a little light that maybe someone will enjoy and perhaps smile. That would make it all worth it!

Got this done on my livestream tonight. I think this may be the format of my new 2024 art calendar.

I've printed my past two calendars really large--11"x17", but I wonder if something like this might be lovely at a smaller scale. For offices and cubbies, maybe? I have the hole punch and wire ring binder machine, and I print them all at home, so they can be whatever size I want, really... Dunno. Hm. Thoughts?
