I think the only "legitimate reason" of any #aas / #AsAService offering is when it's an optional upsell like some #hosting or #support contract that incurs real, obvious and tangible costs just to be able to facilitate them by virtue of requiring personnel and/or infrastructure.

I would pay to subscribe to something like a client side steering agent/blocklist operated by a distributed professional trust and safety guild. Or better, a service that instances could subscribe to in bulk.
@taylorlorenz A legitimate, potentially intractable problem with activity pub/federated platforms is replies to modestly high distribution posts are not visible to all users, depending on the ties between any two instances. This can cause the OP to experience a kind of abusive brigading effect when repliers can't detect multiple identical responses already posted.
Also difficult generally to detect and moderate coordinated inauthentic behavior in the fediverse.

I was writing an email to a colleague stating some of my personal weakness and areas for growth in my career. In a tongue-in-cheek fashion I mentioned that I had trouble selling myself as a service to the employer. Got me thinking, what does that look like?
