Vlinder bij de bloemen van de pawpaw, Asimina triloba. Vreemd… volgens de literatuur zou deze bestoven worden door vleesvliegen die op de aaslucht afkomen.

Vierter Versuch. #Asimina triloba. #Pawpaw oder #Indianerbanane. Die erste hatte ich ausgesät und zu früh gepflanzt. Die zweite, als Pflanze gekauft, überlebte einen Winter, erholte sich aber nicht mehr. Die Dritte, ausgesät und vergessen, erholt sich grade und kommt demnächst wieder rein. Die vierte und fünfte fand ich gestern im Baumarkt. Sie sollns besser haben. Zwei Jahre in der Wohnung überwintern, und dann, vielleicht, an eine geschützte Stelle ... zwei mal 15 € ...

Die Pflanze steht in einem großen Topf vor einer Bretterwand. Der Stamm ist Bleistiftstark, ein Dutzend fleischiger großer Blätter, die sehr an die der Kaffepflanze erinnern, stehen von einem etwas geneigten Stamm ab. Die Indianerbanane hat etwa schon eine Armlänge, sollte aber bis zum Auswildern doch noch etwas stärker werden. Je dicker der Stamm, desto größer ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass sie mit gutem Winterschutz nicht nur überlebt, sondern sich auch prächtig weiter entwickelt. Es soll ein stattlicher Baum werden – mit Früchten, die nicht nur in der Form an eine Mango erinnern. In Nordamerika ist er heimisch und frosthart. Das lässt auch hier hoffen.

They are the biggest native fruit in Northern America and the mango-shaped fruits have an amazing mango-banana-vanillia flavour!
