At work there's a bank of monitors in the newsroom showing various news channels.
When I walk by I'll usually watch at least a little bit of any press conference that has an #ASL interpreter. It's good practice for me.
I just walked by. There was an interpreter. I stopped. And I was getting basically nothing.
At which point I actually read the on screen graphics.
It was an Australian presser.
I assume their #SignLanguage is in the #BSL family because it is absolutely not in the #ASL family.
"I don't like interpreters. They have no words. None. How can they? They use their hands and say nothing. I say everything I hands all the words. All the the words, all the beautiful words. My problem is that they are making me look bad because they're not saying anything. Where are their words? Deaf people don't watch TV because they can't see the words. I want them disbarred from my conferences. "

I've deleted those words b/c the consequences of the removal (further disabling from civic life those w/ disabilities) are facts.
