6% Waning Crescent Moon

Morning skies offered up a mauve red sky with an off-white crescent moon shining in contrast. Detail of the moon's surface is easily viewed offering a great view of the surface. The top of the moon within the Ocean of Storms is smoother than the rough highlands at the bottom.

Before the sun has had a chance to rise the crescent moon is set against the black sky at about 5:00AM. Detail of the moon's surface shows the surface clearly.

Summer #astrophography == hot equipment. I just added a ventilation fan to my allsky camera. The Raspberry Pi already had a heating & fan, but without an outside vent it was running about 70C during the day. A tiny fan & new ducts dropped that to 52C.

Daytime Moon Waning Crescent 31.1%

Set within a light blue sky the bright white and lighter blue surface of the waning moon creates a beautiful view of the 31.1% illuminated moon. The mountains and ridges are barely discernable across the surface... the depths of craters and valleys give a blue lace effect to its surface.

In the upper right hand corner the bright orange glow of Mars shining brightly like a star is set against a sea of black and tiny white stars... all the way at the bottom right sits the light blue star regulus. They make quite a pair in one shot.
