I’ve been confused (read: unconsciously annoyed) by this research from Yale I recently came across:
https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/a-key-brain-difference-linked-to-autism-is-found-for-the-first-time-in-living-people/
Intuitively, their methods and conclusions feel wrong. This is not my field of expertise so I’m out of my depth, but my gut and brain are nagging me something is off.
Not to mention my lived experience with hyper sensitivity, hyper brain plasticity, hyper activity, hyper focus, hyper intelligence*, and hyper memory don’t seem to logically point to…*less* synapses?
Anyway, hard to find substantial reviews or serious context, so curious to hear about any.
*) like most autistic people, I’m more intelligent than the general population. A fact much “cure”/disorder focused research very surprisingly keeps forgetting to mention.
