This week, I'm finally getting rid of my rusty #devolo #cpl , I'm cabling my house properly, and I'm installing a proper #wifi #mesh system (with #ethernet #backhaul , I find the value of WiFi mesh syncing wirelessly... very limited) with a #asus #zenwifi #xt12 🤩
I hope to see a significant difference 🤞🏼
While upgrading to a #Wifi7 #router and #multigig #LAN #networking, it's been a shock to me that wifi7 has a higher data rate than 2.5G #Ethernet!!
Mainly due to wider channels, but also because of #MLO #MultiLinkOperation, which can use 6Ghz and 5Ghz simultaneously!
I wonder if the 2.5G wired #backhaul on the #TPLink #mesh router I've got coming in the mail actually helps much if the nodes have good #signal or if I should have spring for one with 10G backhaul.
...perfect example of using #cellular only for #backhaul but #lorawan for everything else #iot #wildfires #lpwan #lte #wireless full story: https://www.fierce-network.com/wireless/dryad-looks-grow-its-fire-detection-operator-users/
@homeassistant ..." #Green does not have #wifi because the backbone of your #smarthome should use #Ethernet." - yes! Only those of us with a bit of a better understanding of #wireless #Connectivity gets this: a few years ago a certain 'popular' global provider of #lorawan connectivity began marketing their #gateway that used only WiFi as a #backhaul connection - no ethernet - on the arguments of 'ease of integration'. Last time I checked the reviews for it weren't that great...
Just finished installing the #Netgear #WiFi 630 6E #AXE7800 and can't say enough how much better my home network is by separating out the 2.4gHz, 5gHz, and #6gHz bands.
Those awful 2.4 devices that can't (won't) do #5gHz go on their separate radio and SSID - no longer causing issues with 5gHz devices bouncing down to 2.4 and never back up to 5.
Also, the 2.5mbps #backhaul of this device is amazing! REALLY helped my #network devices. No more #AppleTV buffering issues, and #iOS devices just FLY!
Just got parked for the night a bit ago at a rest area here in #wisconsin after making a #delivery of #3M products, picking up my #backhaul of crushed cans and putting in 631 miles today. Got all my #paperwork done and sent off. So now I think I'm gonna play #HogwartsLegacy on my #SteamDeck for a bit before I lay down for the night.
