Does anyone have experience migrating albums from #Bandcamp to #Bandwagon or some other free software based platform ?

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about #PeerTube, #Loops, #Bandwagon, and other platforms in the #Fediverse that are geared around artists. I might get flamed for this, and you’re welcome to disagree, but I think the network is in dire need of having support for commerce.

Not “Big Capitalism” commerce, but the ability for people to buy and sell things, support projects, and commission their favorite creators to keep making more stuff.

Hopefully as the site grows we can see stuff like searching by genre, geographic location, etc. It'd be really cool if you artists could add "influences" or "bands we like" for people to use for discovery as well.

There’s standard collections that export all your ActivityPub activities and content. They SHOULD be universally compatible.

You can also define app-specific collections that move custom data with higher fidelity. That’s how I’m moving complex #Bandwagon data.

But you could make importers for (streams) that understand my custom collections, or vice varsa.

Was debating doing a #Bandwagon page for the Aerospatiale Recordings umbrella that covers both my releases as Convair and as Undercat, but it doesn't seem to allow you to specify different artist names for each release you upload. Is that right? Is there no mechanism for setting up a record label page there?

Seems like a good time to push alternatives such as @benpate’s #Bandwagon, even if they aren’t totally similar.

(Unwarranted opinion: Apple Music is superior to Spotify anyway.)

I think @axwax did a few of them but yes it was mostly me..

What I hate most though, is that it doesn't read the tags for the metadata so you have to type all that in again!

So far in my experience only #mirlo and #Faircamp read the tags from the files.. would be very nice if #Bandwagon could as well.

I dream that you could build your site off #bandwagon (like people use WP) and I could have an app where I subscribe to your site (artist/albums/tracks) like I would podcasts in a podcatcher. decentralized Spotify.
