Tissage aux cartes et au peigne d'encroix, quésako ?

C'est 2 techniques de tissage de galons :

- Dans la première, on enfile les fils dans des cartes avec des trous aux coins. En tournant les cartes, les fils s'entrecroisent et les couleurs se succèdent, donnant de jolis motifs géométriques.

- La seconde consiste à lever et à baisser un peigne d'encroix, petit outil composé d'œillets et de fentes dans lesquels sont passés les fils. De base ça donne des motifs simples, mais des variantes permettent de tisser des motifs plus complexes.

Fierté trans :)

J'avoue qu'au début, j'étais pas super emballé par les tons très pastel du drapeau trans. Je craignais que ça fasse un peu fade sur un tissage.

Du coup, j'y ai ajouté d'autres nuances : un bleu un peu plus soutenu, un rose saumon, et surtout, une lisière bleu nuit qui rehausse magnifiquement les autres couleurs. Résultat, je suis très fan de ce motif.

Cette année, j'enrichis mon activité de tisserand avec la création de kits de tissage de galons !

Je proposerai 2 types de kits distincts : le "kit matériel", qui contiendra le métier à tisser et ses accessoires, et les "kits galons" qui proposeront chacun une nouvelle création à tisser (ceinture, lacets, bijoux, sangle, galons à coudre sur ses vêtements, etc.).

Une fois le kit matériel acheté, vous pourrez ainsi réaliser les créations de votre choix (ou même, avec un peu d'expérience, vous lancer sur vos propres projets).

Moi c'est Maë, créateur tisserand non-binaire basé près de Nantes.

Spécialisé dans le tissage de galons, je me suis lancé l'année passée dans la création de bijoux tissés (tissage aux cartes et au peigne d'encroix).

I am enjoying weaving these in the evenings, trying to slow down from the day. I need to concentrate better on picking up both threads of the pattern warps as the back of the mostly red and white band shows the mistakes which resulted when I didn't!

I sewed a stem bag for my bike and I'm really excited about it! It's my first time sewing one and I made up the pattern so I'm pretty delighted with how it came out.

I used bits of a bag I disassembled for parts, some fabric my mom gave me (the green turkey tail mushroom print fabric) and bands I wove.

There are some things I'll do differently next time, like probably making the bottom square instead of a circle, and making some slightly different fabric choices, like not waxing the lining and drawstring sleeve fabric. And maybe I'll add some ease to the pocket, which can't really fit anything when my water bottle is in there on this one. #biketooter #sewing #bandweaving #cardweaving #myog #diy

Here are some cotton bands I've woven recently. They're now off the loom and washed but I just have progress pics. No particular plans for these, they might make nice bag straps if I feel like sewing bags again at some point.

A colourful interpretation of the Hallstatt textile 152. The original textile fragment used to be a trim, made of fine woollen threads. It was found in the salt mines of Hallstatt and dates back to the pre-Ronan Iron Age, about 500 BCE.
This one I made out of plant dyed, thick woollen threads to use it as a trim for a thick woollen winter peplos.

Weaving bands is something I come back to pretty regularly. Recently it's been in the context of loosely recreating ancient weaving practices like warp weighted weaving.

Here are some card woven bands I've made, I think arranged in the order I made them, with the earliest example on the left and most recent on the right.

I love how card weaving makes elaborate patterning possible while creating a dense and consistent band. It can also be used to weave bands with text, which is what I have on the band loom right now.

I use this process as part of setting up the warp weighted loom, and I also just find bands very useful to have around and fun to make into things or to wrap gifts with.

Also, I'm hoping that adding a caption to an image gives it that as alt-text? If not and someone wants to correct me on this I'd appreciate it, I'd like to be adding alt text to images properly

not much weaving lately since I've been busy with prep for other stuff (an upcoming talk! a magazine article! I have an exciting few months ahead!)

But I'm crocheting a grocery bag and I need straps and I don't like crocheting straps, so I'm weaving one. this didn't have a pattern I just made something up while I was warping.
