Baby barred owl in its nest in a hollow tree top. It was very curious about us and watched us for hours every day.

When the baby barred owl was able to leave its nest, it walked to a small tree next to our house and climbed it. From its perch it could peer into my office. It stayed there for a few days. I could see it watching me.

Baby barred owls can't really fly by the time they leave the nest. But they try nevertheless. Here is one in a tree, flapping.

These two baby barred owls have just left the nest, or "branched." They stayed there for about a day. I found one on a huge oak the next day.
