With a smile on their face they give a happy blep at the camera as they do their space walk. The lights and stars somewhat reflecting off their helmet. Behind them is their planet with it's green and tan continents separated by different oceans. Further out into the space towards the top left of the painting is the moon. Further out is a red planet passing by and a smaller dot of a blue planet. Many stars can be seen shining through the darkness of space.

When it is dark, humans like to use well-lit streets but bats prefer to use dark areas. Urban planning should accomodate both.

@c_dan4th you’ve asked the right person! Each closure has an environmental impact study performed prior to designing the closure method. If it’s determined that the opening may be supportive for bats, it will have a ladder-style grate placed on the opening. Lets bats in, keeps people out. Colorado has led the way in bat-friendly mine closures! The first one in the state went in around 1994 I think. Here’s a sign I designed which has been going up on recent projects.

#Berlin not only boasts numerous lakes but also #waterways, both artificial and natural, all of which are sites of considerable #aquatic #biodiversity. My photos show the #BerlinSpandau #ShipCanal near the #Westhafen (a #harbor). C. C. Voigt et al. (2019) demonstrated the importance these waterways for terrestrial animals as well, namely e.g. #bats, which use #waterbodies and vegetated areas to bypass #artificiallight routes
