Activist Ady Barkan passed away yesterday. Diagnosed years ago with ALS, he continued to fight for important causes while his disease took from him the ability to stand and even speak.

He’s one of the most inspiring figures of my lifetime and I’m crushed we lost such a champion of human rights in this country. He was a phenomenal speaker who made a real difference.
