The thing I learned about #AfD and other #Nazis in #Germany :

I love a bit of pareidolia (the human habit of seeing faces in inanimate objects), and these fungi growing out of a sign post, which I came across to today's lunchtime dog walk in Glasgow, have created a great example. It reminds me of someone, but I can't quite put my finger on exactly who - possiby Beaker from the Muppet Show?

Streetart. The artist "Frankey" has created a fun installation on a tree in a green space in Amsterdam. The tree is a cut trunk from which thin branches sprout wildly. The "installation" consists of two large googly eyes, a thick orange nose and a mouth with the corners of the mouth pulled down. Together, this makes a face with wild hair, i.e. the silly-looking "Beaker" from the Muppets show. He is the shy, long-suffering assistant to Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and is also named after a piece of laboratory equipment. His trademark is an excited "mee-mee-mee" instead of a language.
Info: Frankey is Frank de Ruwe who
currently lives and works in Amsterdam. Where, if you look closely, you can discover his works in an unexpected places throughout the city. Frankey manages to give passers-by an instant smile from ear to ear time after time. "Pretty cool, right?", He says himself.

For the digital reconstitution of a 19th century ornate beaker from the Met Museum collections, I thought it would be fun to go a step further in the pastiche and add a "context-ish" scene. This was inspired by masters of the European Northern schools from the 17th century. I kinda revisited the project recently in order to play with Blender new fancy Kuwahara node in the compositor.

Laid out table basking in a golden light, in the style of a 17th century European northern school painter. Some classical still life elements are present, from left to right: the pipes and tobacco, the fruits and cheese on a plate, the bread, the insect (there's a tiny blue Argus butterfly on the grapes) and the alcohol bottles and glasses. The scene is closed on the right by a bouquet of flowers. In the shadows of the back of the room, on a dresser, are two candlesticks, one with a burned candle and one with a new, alongside a convex mirror. Almost front and centre on the table is one of the three ornate beakers of the image, which have inspired this context scene creation.

This is the same view as before but rendered with only white textures, as they are mostly seen while working in Blender.
