More parcels of bike parts beginning their journeys to customers.

This time I've taken the photo on a cycle-path heading into a tunnel. If I were driving a car I'd be heading toward that traffic light on the left, but the cycle-path goes through the tunnel so I never have to stop when cycling.

This is a good example of how to give cyclists an advantage and make cycling more efficient than driving.

Though I've lived here for a long time now, I still find it amazing that I can use cycling infrastructure of this quality on a daily basis, that it works so well, enabling so many people to ride bikes, and that it keeps everyone safe.

Photo shows a bike pulling a bike trailer full of parcels of bicycle parts, parked on (the wrong side of) a 4 m wide Dutch cycle-path heading into a tunnel. There's a road on the left going in the same direction but drivers have to stop at traffic lights. For cyclists there is no traffic light.

Note that for pedestrians there are two 2 m wide paths. One is next to the road and not visible in this photo. The other is next to the cycle-path in the photo above. You can also see some of the lighting for the cycle-path. It's well light at night, enhancing social safety.

If you can't find what you need locally, I can send parts to almost everywhere in the world, but there are exceptions.

I can't ship to the UK or US because both of those countries have decided to enforce trade sanctions against themselves.

I also won't shop to any country which has a horrible human rights record or is currently carrying out a genocide. Or both. Don't want blood money.

It always surprises me how much extra car traffic there is on wet days. People seem happy to wait time and time again for a green light which only lets through three cars at a time, rather than ride their bikes through what was actually quite mild weather.

An enormous queue of drivers in cars (many behind me as well as in front) waiting for a traffic light to turn green. But the cycle-path is quite empty for me so I made my journey more quickly than these drivers made theirs. Even in the Netherlands there are lots of people who are "made of sugar" and who won't cycle when there's a little rain (as there is in this photo).

Grey-haired veteran Don Williams, photographed by Bicycling Monterey in April 2015, was doing double-duty for Mother Earth: reducing carbon emissions by biking, and picking up litter in Monterey. He is riding a red trike that pulls his bicycle trailer, which holds clean up tools and buckets. He has another tool across the handlebars of his trike, and a few items in a basket on the rear of his trike too. Photos from today's second parcel run, featuring typical everyday Dutch cycling infrastructure.

The first photo shows a bus-stop bypass, but the cycle-path is straight and reasonably wide (about 2.5 metres wide for single direction use) so this doesn't inconvenience cyclists.

The second photo shows a junction with a side road. We have priority and drivers have a place to stop at 90 degrees to the cyclepath and look both ways before they cross.

The second isn't perfect. Sight lines to the right are less than ideal, and drivers sadly cannot be relied upon to drive safely. But generally this infrastructure works well.

The same bicycle next to a junction with a side-road. We have priority on continuous red asphalt which goes through the road. Note that drivers have a place to stop and look before they cross the cycle-path. The cycle-path on the other side of the side-road is bidirectional and (nearly) twice as wide as the one that we're on.
This photo was taken just a few metres further on than the first. This is normal, mundane infrastructure in the Netherlands which you find everywhere.

#cargobikes are nice but sometimes you can't easily find room to keep them locked inside because of their length or can't justify a new bike because you already have on e you don't want to part out. A #bicycletrailer is a great alternative to move stuff around. It can even complement a cargo bike for additionnal capacity. This one used to be a kid's trailer that I recycled into a carry anything thanks to some old pallet planks. It folds for storage. It attaches to a #robertaxleproject thru-axle.
