NEW CARLISLE, Ohio (WKEF) — The Toombs Stone Brothers Motorcycle Club hosted a benefit for a local boy going through cancer treatment.

We first brought you Larkin’s story a year ago. Then, just 4-years-old, he was diagnosed with B-ALL Leukemia and began receiving treatment.

As far as the community’s support goes, Red Beard said Larkin’s fifth birthday parade over the summer was four miles long.

“About two and a half, three hours long of just everybody in the community, the county, the state. I mean, if you had a heart, you were there for him,” said Red Beard.

Wingmen Motorcycle Club helped make the season merry and bright

The Moore County chapter of the Wingmen Motorcycle Club helped make the season merry and bright on Saturday when members delivered a full truckload of donations to the Sandhills Moore Coalition for Human Care. The delivery kick-started the Coalition’s holiday season and helped to fuel its busiest time of year.

The Sandhills Moore Coalition for Human Care, founded in 1986 by local churches, now includes support from 64 congregations, the United Way of Moore County, businesses, and civic groups. Its mission is to alleviate hunger and ease financial strains on struggling households across Moore County.

Organizers said the outpouring of support was overwhelming, resulting in hundreds of dollars’ worth of nonperishable items collected in time for the holidays. The Wingmen thanked the local businesses that allowed them to place donation boxes within their establishments: Hatchet Brewery, Time Out Sports Bar, The Workshop Tavern, and FirstHealth.

Mr. Magoo, The Biker Guru: “Zen and the Art of the Hog Fart”

Gather ’round, you grease-monkey mystics and rubber-burnin’ road warriors. It’s your ol’ pal Mr. Magoo, The Biker Guru, squintin’ through the haze of exhaust and existential dread. Yeah, that’s me—half-blind, full-throttle, and philosophizin’ like a Zen master on a bad acid trip crossed with a three-day bender.

Today’s sermon from the saddle: The Tao of the Hog Fart—How to Let Go and Let Rip. See, life on two wheels ain’t about chasin’ tailpipes or dodgin’ state troopers; it’s about harmony. Balance that kickstand like you’re jugglin’ your ex-wife’s alimony demands and a six-pack of regret. I once rode from Sturgis to Vegas blindfolded—okay, maybe the blindfold was just my beer goggles—but the point is, enlightenment hits harder than a pothole at 90 mph.First rule of biker zen: Embrace the flatulence of fate.

Your hog farts blue smoke? That’s not a breakdown; that’s your spirit animal belchin’ out karma. I told my ol’ lady once, “Babe, if life’s a bitch, ride her raw.” She kicked me in the nuts—turns out, consent’s a real buzzkill in philosophy. But damn if it didn’t teach me: Pain’s just the universe’s way of sayin’, “Tighten your spokes, loosen your load.”

Next time you’re balls-deep in a bar fight or buried under a pile of strippers’ regrets, remember: Every bruise is a badge, every STD a story. (Pro tip: Condoms ain’t cowardice; they’re cosmic insurance against the clap of destiny.)Now, the advanced koan: If a hog falls in the woods and no one’s around to hear the crash, does it still owe you for the paint job?

Answer: Fuck yeah, and that’s why you never trust a sidecar—it’s just dead weight draggin’ your dharma down. Ditch the baggage, brothers. Sell your house, your kids’ college fund, that nagging voice sayin’ “wear a helmet.” Freedom’s the wind in your whiskers, the buzz of a fresh tat, and the sweet release of pissin’ on a cactus at dawn.

But here’s the guru gut-punch: True nirvana? It’s not the ride; it’s the pit stop. Pull over, drop trou, and contemplate your junk in the desert mirror. Is it shriveled like last night’s roadkill dreams? Rev it up! Philosophy ain’t for pussies—it’s for those who know the highway’s a circle jerk, and you’re the lube.

So rev those engines, you magnificent bastards. Life’s too short for speed limits or sensible socks. Ride dirty, love harder, and if the reaper revs up behind ya? Give him the bird and gun it. Peace out—now pass the beans. Vroom-vroom, motherfuggers.

Camshaft Clyde: Winterizing Your Motorcycle: A Comprehensive Guide to Off-Season Protection

By Camshaft Clyde

As the crisp autumn air gives way to the chill of winter, motorcycle enthusiasts face a bittersweet reality: it’s time to tuck away their trusty steeds until spring’s thaw. Winterizing your motorcycle isn’t just a chore—it’s an essential ritual that safeguards your investment, prevents costly repairs, and ensures your bike roars back to life come riding season.

Neglecting this process can lead to issues like seized engines, cracked batteries, or rusted components, turning a simple storage stint into a mechanic’s nightmare. With proper care, however, your motorcycle can emerge from hibernation as good as new, ready for those first warm-mile jaunts.

This guide walks you through a step-by-step winterization process, tailored for riders of all experience levels. Whether you’re storing a sleek sportbike in a garage or a rugged cruiser under a tarp, these tips will help you do it right. Expect to spend a few hours over a weekend, armed with basic tools like wrenches, a torque wrench, cleaning supplies, and a stable storage spot. Let’s dive in and get your bike winter-ready.

Step 1: Thorough Cleaning – The Foundation of Protection

Before anything else, give your motorcycle a deep clean. Dirt, grime, and road salt from the season’s rides can accelerate corrosion if left unchecked. Start by washing the exterior with a motorcycle-specific soap and a soft brush to avoid scratching paint. Pay extra attention to the undercarriage, wheels, and exhaust—areas prone to buildup. Rinse thoroughly and dry with compressed air or microfiber towels to prevent water spots.

Once dry, apply a protective wax to the frame, tank, and chrome accents. For leather seats and saddles, use a conditioner to combat drying from cold, low-humidity storage. Don’t forget the chain: Degrease it with a chain cleaner, then inspect for wear. A clean bike not only looks sharp but also makes subsequent inspections easier. This step alone can add years to your bike’s cosmetic life, warding off the dull patina of neglect.

Step 2: Engine Maintenance – Keep the Heart Beating Strong

The engine is the soul of your motorcycle, and winter demands TLC to avoid seized pistons or gummed-up internals. Begin with an oil change using a high-quality synthetic oil rated for cold starts—something like 10W-40 that flows well in low temps. Warm up the bike first for a proper drain, then replace the filter. Torque everything to spec to prevent leaks.

Next, tackle the coolant (If motorcycle comes with it). Flush and refill with a 50/50 antifreeze-water mix if your bike has a liquid-cooled engine. For air-cooled models, ensure fins are dust-free to promote airflow during any surprise winter spins. Check spark plugs for fouling; replace if needed. A quick compression test can reveal hidden issues early.

Power & Betrayal-Outlaw Motorcycle Club Life By James Hollywood Macecari

Fuel system care is non-negotiable. Ethanol-blended gas attracts moisture, leading to phase separation and corrosion. Add a fuel stabilizer like STA-BIL to the tank, run the engine for 10 minutes to circulate it, then top off the tank to minimize condensation. Alternatively, drain the tank and lines completely, removing the fuel petcock for storage. This prevents varnished carbs or injectors come spring. Pro tip: Label your fuel can if you’re saving it—nothing kills motivation like stale gas.

Step 3: Battery and Electrical System – Avoid the Dead Start Surprise

Batteries hate the cold; they lose up to 60% capacity below freezing, and prolonged disuse leads to sulfation. Disconnect the negative terminal first to prevent shorts, then remove the battery entirely for indoor storage.

Clean terminals with a baking soda solution and wire brush, then apply dielectric grease. Store the battery on a trickle charger or smart maintainer—devices like the Battery Tender keep it topped off without overcharging. If removal isn’t feasible, use a solar maintainer positioned in sunlight. Inspect wiring for frays or corrosion, and tape exposed ends. LED lights and accessories?

Cover switches to deter dust. A healthy electrical system means no frantic jump-starts in April. Tires deserve attention too. Inflate to the max sidewall pressure (check your manual) to minimize flat spots from weight distribution. If possible, elevate the bike on a stand to relieve tire pressure entirely—paddock stands work wonders. Check tread depth and sidewall cracks; rotate if uneven wear shows. Stored tires can dry-rot, so this prep ensures safe, grippy returns.

Step 4: Fluids, Suspension, and Drivetrain – Seal the Deal

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, absorbing moisture that boils under heat or freezes in cold. Flush and replace with fresh DOT 4 or 5.1 fluid, bleeding lines meticulously. Inspect pads and rotors for wear—replace if thickness is below spec. Suspension? Clean forks and shocks, then apply silicone spray to seals. For chain-driven bikes, clean and lube the chain one last time, adjusting tension to manual specs.

Belt drives need a wipe-down and tension check. Belts and cables (throttle, clutch) should be lubered lightly to prevent binding. Cover exposed metal with a corrosion inhibitor spray like ACF-50. If your bike has air filters, swap to a clean one or spray with filter oil. These small acts fortify against rust and seizing, common winter villains.

Step 5: Secure Storage – The Final Fortress

Location is key: A dry, temperature-stable garage or shed is ideal, away from direct sunlight or freezing floors. Use a breathable motorcycle cover to shield from dust and critters—avoid plastic tarps that trap moisture. Elevate on a stand if space allows, and place moisture absorbers like DampRid packets nearby.

Rodent deterrence? Mothballs or peppermint oil-soaked cotton balls work, but ultrasonic repellers are humane and effective. Document your bike’s state with photos for insurance or resale. Finally, start the engine monthly for a brief idle (if stored with fuel) to circulate fluids—15 minutes suffices.

Spring Awakening: Tips for a Smooth Return

Winterizing done right sets the stage for effortless revival. In spring, reverse the process: Reinstall the battery, check fluids, lower tires, and take a short shakedown ride. Listen for odd noises and scan for leaks. Your proactive winter efforts will pay dividends in reliability and joy.

Winterizing isn’t glamorous, but it’s the mark of a true rider—caring for the machine that carries your adventures. Invest the time now, and ride worry-free later. Safe storage, and here’s to melting roads ahead!

You might have seen motorcycle clubs before but not like this. Motorcycle nuns hit the road for first-ever “Nun Run” to support youth retreat

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Some local sisters are taking their faith beyond the convent this weekend and doing it in a way that might surprise you.

You might have seen motorcycle clubs before but not like this. The sisters of the Incarnate Word Convent in Corpus Christi are gearing up for the first-ever Nun Run, a 41-mile ride to support the Spirit Center, a nonprofit Catholic youth retreat outside of Bluntzer.

Within the walls of the Incarnate Word Convent, things usually move at a gentle pace. But this weekend, these sisters are shifting gears. Life for them is revving up as Sister Annette Wagner prepares to get on a motorcycle for the first time in years.

“Yes, but too long ago to remember what it’s like. So this will be a new adventure for me!”

It’s a new adventure with some unlikely new friends, all working together to make some noise for a good cause.

For Ernesto Mendez with Knights on Bikes, this is also a first.

More than a dozen Hells Angels sentenced in beating

Several people connected to the San Diego County chapter of the Hells Angels have been sentenced for their roles in a hate-related 2023 stabbing.

Thirteen defendants pleaded guilty to various charges and have been sentenced to state prison, county jail or probation terms. That’s in addition to the June sentencing of the lead defendant, Troy Andrew Scholder.

The attack on three young Black men in Ocean Beach, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office said, left two of them badly injured.

The prosecution centered around the June 6, 2023, attack on three men, ages 19, 20 and 21, who were chased by the defendants on Newport Avenue after one of them apparently spoke to a Hells Angels member’s girlfriend.

Two Oregon motorcycle club members serving life sentences for kidnapping, torturing and murdering Ask for New Trial

PORTLAND, Ore. (CN) — Two Oregon motorcycle club members serving life sentences for kidnapping, torturing and murdering an ousted member asked a Ninth Circuit panel on Friday for another chance at a trial, with one arguing his brain injury made him unable to form the intent required for a conviction.

“Our position is that the defense should have been given the opportunity to create reasonable doubt, particularly in a case where a defendant faces a mandatory life sentence that the district court said it would not have imposed had it had a choice,” argued Elizabeth Daily with the Federal Public Defender’s Office.

Daily represents Chad Erickson, a member of the Gypsy Joker Outlaw Motorcycle Club — a group the government has described as a ruthless and violent gang. Joining the appeal is Mark Dencklau, who served as the president of the club’s Portland chapter from 2003 until his arrest in 2018.

From The Bitch Pad- Bucket List: Tail of The Dragon

Kathy Lynn Parnell

Author’s background – Kathy started riding the Bitch Pad later in life after HoneyBun entered the scene & when asked why she doesn’t ride her own bike, she’ll comment that she’s “an accident waiting to happen” & she “trips over her own feet”, never mind “getting lost in malls”! No microphone or Bluetooth for this chick, just the sounds of the bike, the stereo & the world around her. She can sleep while riding, which is crazy but true. She has a camera that takes great pictures on the fly & enjoys regaling anyone within ear-shot about a memorable ride.

My HoneyBun & I packed the bike & headed down the road, no specific destination in mind, or so I thought. We turned West on I-40 (not my favorite blacktop) & stayed on it for a spell.

It was another beautiful day for a ride, with lots of fellow bikers enjoying the same. Hmmm, are we going to Asheville? Nope. Maggie Valley? Nope. Cherokee? Nope. Geez. I give up. The journey matters more than the destination, or does it?

The odometer clicked over 45,000 miles while I lost myself in the passing scenery. 40 became 74 & 74 became 129. Where are we going? I don’t believe I’ve been here before. The North Carolina countryside was beautiful (blue sky with big fluffy white clouds, green grasses & vines, tall lush trees with hills & mountains in the distance, radiant flowers along the exits, & bales of hay in the fields with cows chewing & swishing their tails).

About 4 hours had passed when we rounded a corner & came upon a place called Deal’s Gap, with dozens of parked bikes out front. There’s a huge metal dragon on the side of the road giving away the secret. Holy Cow! This was on my bucket list! So, now we are on The Tail of The Dragon, famous for its 318 curves in 11 miles. As I mentioned, it was a beautiful day, so I’ll bet there were hundreds, if not thousands on “The Tail” that afternoon.

Cars, hotrods, motorcycles, trikes, you name it, everyone was on this little two-lane strip in the middle of nowhere. So cool! Wouldn’t it be nice to be the only one on it, so you could lean into the curves & cross over the double solids, maybe hitting the throttle a little bit more? Honestly, my Man does a great job keeping our big cruiser upright, with me moving around on the back, taking a million pictures.

Thankfully, there are professional photographers camped out along the corners clicking off a countless number of pictures, available online. HoneyBun bought every single one he could find! Hehehehehe!

The Tail crosses into Tennessee (how many curves were there?) & we continued on to Sweetwater for the night.

Bucket List item ticked off. Happiness isn’t around the corner; happiness is the corner!

Motorcycling veterans and emergency workers supported in Vernon

A former motorcycle racer is revved to bring some support to fellow riders struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Richard Day was a national level racer, who faced a fair share of crashes that did more than break skin and bones. Not to mention all the near misses he faced on the track and the roads.

But it’s nothing compared to the toll that PTSD plays on veterans and first responders. And he wants to help. Day is part of the Okies Motorcycle Club, which has been gathering for approximately 20 years “in a small way.”

Now called the Okie Dokeys, Day is opening the club up to more people for November. Anyone with a bike is urged to come to the Bean Scene on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 12 p.m., but particularly veteran and first responder riders. “Our main mandate is to talk motorcycles and support people with PTSD,” said Day, encouraging anyone who sees the group of bikes at this or other coffee shops to just pull on in.
