All federal executive agencies, both civilian and defence varieties, are enthralled with #AI, today. AI is now in storage, security, operations, monitoring, maintenance, planning, staffing, budgeting, the lot. That is, AI now controls not just technical platforms but even the way the agencies execute their mandates.
Such trend-chasing is innate to the executive agencies, since when a long time ago Congress passed the respective enabling acts. But AI is vastly different in kind from all past technologies.
The entirety of the modern AI is under a complete control of a few #billionaire #TechBros. As such, no one in the employ of the agencies, neither govies nor connies, fully grasp the true propensities and the unobservable behaviours of AI.
This type of "close the eyes and hope" governmental conduct, too, is nothing new. Just look back to the recent past: the FAA failed properly to oversee Boeing, and let the company "regulate" its own conduct, which resulted in loss of many lives.
But this new blind-faith in AI has the potential not only to destroy individual lives but also the entirety of The People.
