#biohackathon

After another successful week at @elixir_europe #BioHackathon, we've written up our vision for (and development towards) a federated microbiome analysis service: doi.org/10.37044/osf.io/3x274

We looked at the practicalities of using RO-Crates (👋 @soilandreyes ) to describe and transport microbiome-derived datasets between different pipelines on different infrastructures, with 3 very productive tracks of work.

Increasing interoperability of bioimage dataset resources is the main goal of @nfdi4bioimage's project at the 3rd #de.NBI #BioHackathon in Kassel - already in full swing. A great opportunity to develop ideas and solutions
#RDF #IDR #OMERO #RO-crate
and lots of fun hacking for FAIR data.

the first DBCLS BioHackathon 2024 preprints are appearing online! I saw some social media coverage and the projects sounded awesome. And now I can start reading up on the details of the work done.

I also spotted the first preprint from the meeting with CiTO annotation (cito:citesAsDataSource)! Thanks, Julie Koblitz! doi.org/10.37044/osf.io/qxpn8

#SWAT4HCLS #biohackathon tip: I have a Groovy script that creates #wikidata quickstatements to link journal articles to a "main topic":

groovy findConcepts.groovy -s "Encyclopedia of Life" -q Q82486

AT #SWAT4HCLS #Biohackathon, we are already exploring ways to utilise AI to generate SPARQL queries and curate ontologies. For example, by enriching metadata collection using VOID headers. Can these metadata headers be used to feed data to AI approaches and consume AI results?

The #SWAT4HCLS #Biohackathon started. We have just inspected the co-hacking spaces available for the participants. There is the hack lounge where we can relax and hack and the Biohackathon room where people can claim a table to work.

#SWAT4HCLS #Biohackathon pitch #1 "Publishing FAIR Datasets from Bioimaging Repositories". This proposal aims at making Bioimage repositories, more notably OMERO, FAIR. This probably by building a FAIR Data Point on top of these repositories.

Who is joining #SWAT4HCLS?

I am organising the #biohackathon that is part of this exciting conference where we mainly discuss the application of the semantic web in the life sciences.

Please reach out if you want to propose a topic to be addressed during the biohackathon which will be held on Feb 29. There will be a co-working space assigned during the other days (from the 26th onward) where you can either prepare or start the hacking.

One very nice example of a data driven game an a great with to start the weekend is guessr. Where you have to guess the actual location of an object. In this link you have to guess the location of university hospitals: guessr.blinry.org/?Q1059324 (Q1059324 is the wikidata id for http;//www.wikidata.org/entity/Q1059324. Please share other Qids if your find other fun games to guess. We can use the inspiration at the #swat4hcls #biohackathon.

What should I say? After day 2 of the we already found a solution for most of the tasks. We also found a 🖐️ handful of new use cases (mostly in the context of @NFDI4Chem ) for which wanted to have a look into our widgets.

@joshmoore how is the progress going for the interoperability between OMERO and ARC ?

I'm on the way to the Germany 2023 in . We will investigate services ecosystem in the life sciences.

I will talk with use cases about .

Magnus Palmblad and eScience Center's #RSE Vedran Kasalica led a project on the topic "Benchmarks for Bioinformatics Workflow Bake Offs" at #BioHackathon. This project focused on identifying and standardizing tests for comparing #Performance, #Accuracy, and #Efficiency of bioinformatics workflows🖥️ The BioHackathon annually brings together researchers from communities like Elixir NL. Announcing a new #BioHackathon franchise. Given the overlap in both audience and topics, we are rebranding the SWAT4HCLS hackathon as Biohackathon - SWAT4HCLS.

Please join us in Basel. Topic proposals to work on during the hackathon are appreciated.
