The image is of a bird on a white background, it is a digital collage made from the artist own nature photo of a common poly poor and the eastern US in Canada that is famous for its anti-inflammatory properties. It’s named turkey tail lead to an obvious inspiration for this piece. The body of the turkey is made from the wooden stump the polypores were growing on.

This piece was made specifically for the 2025 Halloween Exhibition at the Redwood Art Festival in Eureka, CA. as an 11x17" print. It features a Red-Winged Blackbird amongst an Art Nouveau-inspired filigree styling.

The original image was a request by a patron at one of the fairs i'd attended as an art vendor. So I made the bird initially as a greeting card without the styling so I could then use that same bird in a piece that would fit the exhibition. I do love the textures and framing and narrative I can create beyond just a portrait of a bird.

I do all my work in Procreate on my M1 iPad Pro, with no generative nonsense at all in the process. It is #Humanmadeart . This piece took 5929 strokes of my stylus and 6h2m to complete.

Great tit is an acrylic painting in portrait format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. A cute great tit sits on a branch and looks towards the viewer. While I painted the bird in more detail, I kept the background more abstract for contrast, but used the same colours of vibrant yellow, green and teal.

These are birds that were suggested to me by folks who visited my booth over the last year here in Humboldt County in northern California. They’re all birds that can be found here along the Redwood Coast.

Unfortunately I can only sell to US customers right now for a number of reasons. Tariffs, VAT… I wish the situation wasn’t a straight-up nightmare but it is.

Regardless, I just want to say that I’m really proud of these, and I think they’re very cute. If you’re going to have time to send them out and ensure they arrive by the holidays, it might be a good idea to buy them now considering the state of the USPS and how it is always impacted by the holiday crush.

It’s always nice to get something in the mail that isn’t junk mail, bills, politics, flyers… I think it says something that someone took the time to get a stamp and buy a card and mail it instead of simply blasting out impersonal generic posts on walled garden social media platforms. Sending a card says you care in a way that a FB post or Text simply can’t.

I’m proud to announce my 2026 Redwood Coast Birds calendar is available for purchase on my shop! It’s a 7x10” flip calendar with a stylized list of dates that really get out of the way of the beautiful bird imagery. It’s essentially a collection of twelve mini-prints, perfect for one’s office or rooms with little wall space.

Each bird can be seen on the Redwood Coast here in the Pacific Northwest in the US, but especially here in Humboldt County. Most of the illustrations were requested by patrons who visited my booth over the summer, asking if I could do specific birds because they had connections to them or stories they cherished.

This is a deeply personal collection for me. It is the beginning of my connection to the residents of my new community to which I moved at the beginning of the year.

So I’m working on a new 2026 calendar featuring Redwood Coast birds that have been suggested to me over the seven months I’ve live here in Humboldt County in northern California.

I got a lot of suggestions at my vendors booth at the outdoor fairs and festivals I participated in. So many deep and personal connections with specific birds, so many stories. I met conservationists, animal care specialists, students in Forestry, and birders—so many birders! Each of them had a bird tale to share or a thought about what I might made next.

This calendar is the result of all that. Almost all of the months are from birds people said I need to make or birds they’s seen around that were special to them.

I’m really happy to get started on this. it’s coming very soon!! I’ll keep you all posted!
