Die Bachstelze ist ein schlanker, recht hochbeiniger Singvogel mit einem langen Schwanz, der sich beständig in wippender Bewegung befindet. Von den 16,5–19 cm Körperlänge entfallen etwa 9 cm auf den Schwanz. Das Gewicht liegt bei etwa 25 g.

🇺🇸: The white-spotted bluethroat (Luscinia svecica cyanecula) is a subspecies of the bluethroat, a small passerine bird in the Old World flycatcher family (Muscicapidae). It measures about 13 to 14 centimeters in length and weighs between 13 and 20 grams. Its wingspan typically ranges from 20 to 22 centimeters. The white-spotted bluethroat inhabits wet meadows, reed beds, and willow thickets, often near bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, and marshes. It breeds in parts of Central and Western Europe, particularly in lowland areas with suitable wet habitats. During the breeding season, which usually lasts from May to July, males are known for their striking blue throat with a distinctive white central spot and their elaborate song. In autumn, they migrate to wintering grounds in North Africa and the Indian subcontinent. Their diet consists mainly of insects and other small invertebrates during the breeding season, while berries and seeds may supplement their food in late summer and during migration.
