a poem by Clint Smith

"when people say 'we have made it through worse before'
all I hear is the wind slapping against the gravestones
of those who did not make it, those who did not
survive to see the confetti fall from the sky, those who..."

I hit the character limit, but you can listen to Smith himself recite the rest of the poem here: youtube.com/watch?v=PmX_i4LAV5

Dr. Antoine M. Jasmine Announces Release of Inspirational New Book

“How God Made Me: I Discovered Me”

Dr. Antoine M. Jasmine, a renowned author, speaker, and leader in spiritual development, is thrilled to announce the release of his latest book, How God Made Me: I Discovered Me. This powerful and uplifting work invites readers on a transformative journey of self-discovery and faith, encouraging them to embrace their unique identities as crafted by divine purpose.

Dr. Jasmine

In How God Made Me: I Discovered Me, Dr. Jasmine combines insightful narratives with practical guidance, drawing on his extensive experience in theology and personal development. The book explores the depths of individuality and the importance of recognizing one’s inherent worth through the lens of spirituality. With heartfelt stories and profound revelations, Dr. Jasmine aims to help readers understand their value and mission in life, regardless of their circumstances.

The Book

When asked about the new book, Jasmine says, “This book is especially personal to me as it discusses my life’s journey along with the challenges and successes that came with it. Being vulnerable hasn’t always been easy for me, but I understand the power of showing the raw, unfiltered truth of who I am. It allows my story to be helpful to someone who may currently be dealing with something similar in their own life experience.  I hope that after reading this, someone gains the knowledge of how to ‘turn lemons into lemonade’ by continuing to persevere and reach their true potential that God has planned for their life.” ”

This book explores the journey that shaped Dr. Jasmine into the individual he is today—a man who is committed to living authentically and helping others awaken to their full potential. Each chapter delves into the challenges, habits, and traumas that others may face on their pathway to greatness, showing that growth is a gradual process shaped by experiences and perseverance.

When I was young, I felt the physical weight of race constantly. We had less. Our lives were more violent.

And whether by genes, culture, or divine judgment, this was said to be our fault. The only tool to escape this damnation for a lucky few-was school. Later I went out into the world and saw the other side, those who allegedly, by genes, culture, or divine judgment, had more but as I came to understand knew less. These people, white people, were living under a lie. More, they were, in some profound way, suffering for the lie. They had seen more of the world than I had-but not more of humanity itself. Most stunningly, I realized that they were deeply ignorant of their own country's his-tory, and thus they had no intimate sense of how far their country could fall. A system of supremacy justifies...

Finished reading Octavia Butler's Kindred last night, what a powerful book. I read her Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents a few years ago and they are still with me as well. Her work always makes me think long after finishing it.

Tonight I attended author Judy Hudson’s book launch of “Spy Notes,” hosted by my friend Pearl Martin. Think of the book as the African-American woman’s answer to James Bond, and Hutson uses a lot of the locations she’s visited, like in Paris, for the book. I will neither confirm nor deny that Hutson is in anyway involved with espionage, but she sure makes it look good.
